Hi everyone, Im 33 yo female and I need advice on procedures to get rid of scars and improve texture.
my plan is now: I will be able to have a consultation with doctor Igor Safonov in October. I think he will say to do a subcision, maybe with additional procedures like dermabrasion. Later, maybe in December, I would like to have an erbium laser done by another specialist to improve the skin texture.
I would like to fill the severely atrophied area with fat or filler after that. And maybe then strong tca peels for texture and pores.
the problem is that there is no specialist in Ukraine who would do everything at once, so this is the way. what about my plan? Is it correct?
My story: the scars are about 12 years old. the only option in my country in 2013 was a laser, probably C02, the procedure was aggressive, I did it twice in 2013, the result was minimal. then a break for pregnancy, in 2018 again CO2 and again a minimal result, zero rather. again a break for the second pregnancy and searching for information, in 2022 I did CO2 again, again zero effect, maybe worse. after that, I finally found a cosmetologist who performed subcision, fraxel and polynucleotides in one procedure. well, the result was not impressive, I am not sure that she did the subcision correctly. in a few months again subcision and polynucleotides.
vivace X 3 times, which slightly improved the overall appearance of the skin.
I do think subcision (with suction) followed by other procedures sounds like something that might help.
Perhaps a bunch of fraxel CO2 laser plus PRP treatments would help. Often 1-2 treatments doesn't show much progress and you need more. Dermabrasion historically can benefit a lot if the right person is doing it, but it scares me a lot. I probably wouldn't get that myself personally because I'd be scared of increased scarring. But I have spoken to dermatologists who do scar repair and have said dermabrasion really does help as long as they are the one doing it and they are careful.
Check out all scar treatment options here. I just updated them all with the latest information.
@healing34 It's extremely tough nowadays to sort through things that help. I have extremely bad texture, but not much actual deep scarring other than one spot that's deeper than superficial. But my texture is abysmal. Sort of like if someone put lines all through my face full cheeks.
I had dermabrasion 20 years ago and it was the only thing that worked for me, but it's results aren't perfect and the fat loss is difficult to fix.
As far as I can tell lasers do very little, or if they do work it's for certain people to a high degree for whatever reasons. I did a test spot for fractional laser but I find the results uneven. Some surrounding area made some indents more prominent, a little color change, spread the scar zapped a bit. Then again it's more "even" 10 days out. So idk.
For you, you have to do a combination of things. Whether that consists of subcision by someone who knows what they're doing + an ablative of sorts (laser or dermabrasion or something else) + filler + maybe prp needling or something. You have somewhat deeper scars mixed with textural scarring. So the deeper ones probably need to be addressed first. I mean I've seen improvements of similar mixed scarring. Maybe 60-70% even. But it was people with good doctors doing a variety of things essentially.
I mean it really is a lifetime struggle though. Even for me, after getting significant success from dermabrasion, it still leaves flaws and as you age or do other things it conflicts with struggling to do maintenance as well.
But without a doubt you should try to find a combination of procedures with realistic goals. C02 to start or alone won't work on different scars. It's a process. Either way, welcome to the struggle bus club...
