I had chickenpox in December last year and the scars have not receded for 5 weeks now. See photos

a) In particular, some of the scars on my forehead are prominent.

b) I also have a couple of small scars around my mouth and a lot of dark pigmentation spots from the chicken pox.

What I've tried:

Neutrogena Retinol anti-wrinkle cream

Cicatricture scar gel

Should I be giving it more time? Are there more effective/faster ways of removing chicken pox scars? Open to laser treatment/needle treatment too.

Thanks!

Nothing topical really helps much with scars. I'd save your money. Retinoids (tretinoin for instance) can help very slightly, but nothing else really does anything noticeable.

I'm betting anything on your chin will just go back to normal? I can't really see much indentation there.

As far as your forehead, those look like classic boxcar scars. I'm betting a doc might suggest subcision and maybe some CROSS and maybe some laser. Or perhaps a little filler. Basically there are lots of things that can be done to help out, but you'll want to investigate the options and find a good doc/surgeon.

Thank you Dan. I am starting with a dermatologist visit this week and will follow up on this thread with the options I am presented with.
