Hello Forum,
What a journey for all of us.
I have mild acne scarring (not severe; at most moderate), some ice picks, box scars and pores. Recently had done a RF Microneedling process. Plan to do a second session.
My question is this:
1. If RF Microneedling help produce collagen, does it deform old scars into "new scars" with the needles + RF to give a lasting result? In terms of scars; not wrinkles, age spots or dark-spots. Those will always come back. But in terms of scars, how likely is it to become permanent?
And if it doesn't; wouldn't dermabrasion (removal of the skin) or a chemical peel (removal of the skin) be a better option?
This would be much appreciated on my end. For this is an endless researching and doctors seem to have various answers.
Great question. From what I understand from fraxel laser, which is similar to microneedling, the results are long-term. It stimulates collagen production and that collagen production sticks around.
However, over time, collagen is lost as we age. So will it revert? That's actually a great question and one that I don't quite know the answer to.
A deep peel or dermabrasion is removing the skin and allowing it to regrow. My common sense is with yours where it seems like that might offer longer-term results because it's not just a process of stimulating collagen production. But again, I don't know! I love good questions like this. You said you've looked everywhere? Can you give me some references so I can read what you've already read?
