Hi guys, i posted about getting co2 laser about a week ago. I got it done last thursday. I am already completely healed- was healed within 3-4 days tbh. My scars look exactly the same. I would argue this did the least compared to other treatments, even microneedling. How is that even possible with a co2 ablative laser? I had it done by a plastic surgeon. I was giving numbing cream before hand- wasnt told to use vinegar soaks or anything or take antibiotics which I noticed a lot of other people are instructed by their doctor, is that odd? I had no peeling, no bleeding, just swollen red cheeks and some oozing for 2 days. I think she didnt do deep enough settings at all and maybe didnt know how to treat scars. I feel i completely wasted my money 775$. I have a follow up march 16. What should i mention to the doctor at the follow up? Should i mention my dissatisfaction? I feel scammed.. as what ive seen from other peoples co2 treatments they had way longer healing time etc so I feel she did not even do a deep enough setting; rushed through; and honestly missed some of my scars too. (Didnt even go over them with the laser). I thought a plastic surgeon was a good option but i guess not.

Am i not waiting long enough to see results?
i figured id atleast notice some difference a week after but is that not a thing?
thanks. Please give some advice on what i should say to my doc at follow up or what you guys think of co2 laser for results on acne scars.

Also this isnt even the scars in the worst lighting and they might still be slightly swollen making them look better then they actually are.

Ablative laser can take a month or even months to recover from completely, at least for all of the redness to subside, so yeah, something seems off. Absolutely you should express your concern and ask what occurred. Perhaps it was a misunderstanding, and perhaps it was a mistake on their part.

@dan so it was a dekka brand laser. She told me it was ablative, and when I googled that laser it says its a fractional ablative laser, and can be fractional or ablative depending on the settings used I knew she didnt use high enough settings as soon as the session was over. So frustrating

I replied in your other thread as well.

It's always safest to be conservative and go up from there, so I'm not saying your doc was necessarily wrong in what she did. But, as you have noticed, it didn't give you results, so that's why I'm saying, absolutely talk to her about it. Discuss settings, and perhaps other options.

And...you can always see other docs as well.

Yea, I feel like I didnt express enough concern about that with her at my follow up. I felt like she would t have done anything about it anyway except offer to do it again but of course charge me again. I feel like alot of these doctors know I wont see results but just tell me I might or pretend they think its more softened to get money out of me on a treatment.
unfortunately there isnt alot of doctors around where I live that treat scars

It's crazy when you start learning that you have to be your own advocate and really kinda almost be in charge even with the medical establishment. It's a place you would think would always have your best interest at heart and not be thinking about money and always be careful to do the right thing. But I have personally noticed it's often not that way. I'm not calling out your doc in particular because I really don't know the details, but just saying generally.

Any time I, or anyone in my family, has medical advice or procedures performed, I make sure to do deep research, and ask lots of questions, and almost run the show in a way. Sure, I learn what the options are from the doctor and respect their expertise, but I stay in charge. It's my body. I want to know everything that's going to go down, I want to research it myself first, and I want to feel super solid before it happens.

I think you're doing that now, which is great.

You have multiple rolling scars, which are almost always tethered, which means you need subcision to release the tethering. But first of all, you need to find a qualified and professional acne scar specialist.
