Hi I did my 80% TCA on Dec 27th. Most of the color is fading fine, there are few of them still pretty red, And among those red ones, I noticed one of the red ones, seems form a raised scar. I can feel the bump and can see the area raised through certain lighting condition. I am not 100% sure whether that bump exist before or not. Does anybody know whether it is possible that TCA cross cause raised scar? thanks

I've heard of increased scar width, but never raised scars. However, that doesn't mean it's not possible. I would guess it's just inflammation, but I don't really know. Have a pic?

@dan thank you for the response. I tried to take photos but it is impossible to see the bump in the photo. Can only feel it because it is small. yes I never heard of raised scar from anybody else, all they complain is making deeper and wider. I guess I need to wait for my next dr appointment next week to see the before photo. BTW what's the longest time for the redness to fade? I have few spots, about 8, they are just fading very very slowly, feels like it will take forever. Others are fading much quicker. I even did one Vbeam laser 2 weeks ago but not seeing too much difference

Red marks can take seemingly forever, you're right. I've heard of a year or even more at times. Keep them out of the sun (but make sure your vitamin D levels are ok).

@icikiwir Yes. In fact the raised part has lighter color, almost fade to the skin color. I am not sure whether that exist pre my tca treatment or not.

In my opinion TCA is just so not worth it , several of the scar is still super red, it has been 4 months. I am also doing lasers but still feels it is so hard to remove those.

@dan Thanks. The weird part is some area lighten up quickly, some area is just so stubborn and show no progress at all.

That is kinda strange, I agree. But maybe some of the areas got deeper and produced more melanin/melanocytes.

@dan Yes Probably. It has been a nightmare for me for the past few months. I went to a really experienced doctor but result in those scary red marks that won't go away. I did not see any improvements regarding the scar depth. I will never do it again. Now I am just dealing with the red marks. Doing Vbeam, may also try IPL

Acne scarring is such a challenge and seems to produce such individualized results. Overall TCA CROSS works well according to most studies, but then you see someone like you where it didn't work that well. When sorted by efficacy, here's what works best, but again, this depends on the person and you also need a good practitioner.

@icikiwir some of the red marks fade, but about 7 of them just stays the same which is weird. I guess as Dan said, the redder ones got hurt worse initially so it is harder for them to fade. I feel those red ones may take more than a year to fade.

for My first Vbeam the Derm use a super low setting. I am going to do another Vbeam this Friday and ask the derm to hit them harder. If I still cannot see any improvement I will do try Picosure and IPL later. Probably also try some topical cream as well.

I saw your photo, yours got lighten up a lot! congrats
