Dear All,
Can anyone please help me to decide which peel is best for acne scars, PIH and uneven skin tone.
I am not looking for the miracle cure, but just a peel for a subtle improvement while waiting and saving for a in depth treatment.
TCA, glycolic, salycilic??
Many thanks
I don't think you'll be happy with a peel, only because rolling, boxcar, icepicks won't respond well to just a peel. I mean at best it'll soften and blend I guess but I can't see it getting deep enough through the different contours. Doctor told me the other day he does TCA cross and I told him I tried 5-6 spots like 10 years ago when it first came out and it widened a few. He said he never saw widening before. Many on this board say it helped them but I've also seen forum posts of it widening scars.
In the end it seems like it's viable but it may be extremely dependent on the doctor not being stupid when applying it (like not hitting the sides of the scar).
If you want my opinion, test spot 1 or 2 with TCA cross. If it heals, try more, if it widens, stop. Find a good dr. Honestly, I'm of the belief that testing is paramount over a doctor's desire to just make bank and use your whole face as a experiment. Sometimes certain procedures are harder to spot test because it may appear uneven but try to test where you can when practical.
Outside of that, I'm just speculating here but a fractional or erbium resurfacing might be options based on the different contours/scars. Even the RF microneedling seems hit or miss. Many say it stinks, I saw a few that said it worsened, some say it did well, again it might be talent specific. I mean Lim has a bunch of cases on his site but who knows, some say he's good others bleh.
