i never insulted anybody except for that freak fraxelwaxel.......hes been lurking on here for years talking about fraxel and bothering people with questions.....and hasnt even done 1 single fraxel yet.......grow some balls already.....at least we are all taking chances and actually TRYING to help purselves.....regardless of whether fraxel works or not!
I haven't posted here in a while but i figured i should since so many don't after a few fraxels. But I had my sixth about a week ago and no longer really care about getting the settings down anymore because the last two times they said they've been going the highest the machine could go which all of you probably know (70mj). I lost track of all other settings because I'm just trying to look at the big picture for improvement and don't really feel like keeping a log. (I don't want these scars to be constantly on my mind.)
But I'd say I've definitely got some improvement, Drs say 50% but probably just to sound encouraging. I'd say 10%-35%. I know that's pretty broad but it's really too hard to tell and different scars are doing better than others. My scars are all located on my cheeks, rolling, a box scar and scarred pores, some on my neck but not really noticeable. I'll probably go to eight and they seem to be going more thorough every time.
I'll keep you guys updated and might take after pics but I'm just happy for some improvement. On a plus, I'm actually hanging out with old friends who haven't really seen me before I got all my scars and they're still on my mind a lot but just not enough were I can't face the world anymore.
If anyone has questions feel free to send a message.

A couple questions, how old are you and have you noticed more improvement on your rolling scars than on other scars? Thanks.
I'm 21 and yeah it's hard to tell because I haven't been comparing to old pics or anything but I've noticed that my scars have smoother edges and I know one of my main concerns was that from a distance they all looked like they bordered each other giving the illusion of one huge scar. But yeah I still notice that my scars are still rolling but don't give too much of that illusion anymore.
Actually one of my boxed scars almost looks as it can pass for a rolling now so I''d have to say they're all somewhat responding in some way, but some show improvement more than others.
I think Effu is essentially right though. It's overhyped and gives the impression that the doctors doing the tx know what's going on.
I had fraxel last summer. My doctor took a look at my scars (i had none, I just wanted to work on texture) and when I brought up an ice pick he said Fraxel would work.
Anyways, I know this is subjective but what I'm getting at is that while fraxel is an improvement in the arena of lasers, it's only marginal in overal effectiveness.
CO2 lasers will give you the biggest change. And that comes w/ alot of risk and downtime. It eliminates dark skinned people and requires more commitment. Fraxel requires high energy as well to be effective so it's misleading when they say it can help dark skinned people.
Just another way for docs to get cash.
Another thing to add to my rant:
This thread is informative but ridiculous. 271 pages. Years ago when I had no scarring but obsessing over one imperfection I was really interested in fraxel. Well 5 years later, I have 3 big scars on my face from various tx, including fraxel.
I dont wana say it was fraxel cuz it was more my image issues and inability to see i was fine looking.
I would hope people do a lot of homework and dont buy into the bullshit on websites. A lot of them use other peoples pics from other docs and pass them off as their own. That's a whole other game though (interpreting how accurate a picture is).
This thread is really a Q&A imo. It's informative but there's a big lack of pics and once you get to a certain point people forget what was posted before. It's just goign to keep going on and on.
I think the only real tx for deep scars is CO2 lasers. For rolling, depending on what they may be, id go w/ subsicision and filler. For severe icepick? I dunno.
blind DESPERATE HOPE.....also, u have alot of swelling and peeling and redness during the weeks u are treating......and in my case, i did 11 fraxels (i did one fraxel every 2 weeks), and it was only after i stopped for several weeks that i got a good look at my results.......and it is no where near where 11 fraxels SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN ME if u believe the fraxel site, and what the doctors say....
i don't understand is why people come on here and are so positive--they're positive all through their treatments--then after awhile they say fraxel sucks and wasnt worth it.
I think I can answer that. I've done 5 treatments and I think that it's doing very little for my scarring, but it is doing wonders for my skin. My scars look softer, less deep, maybe even thinner, but they are not really being removed. I think you need something ablative for scars and all fraxel can do is improve the surface of the scars rather than remove them.
I'm still going to have a couple more. If I'm still not satisfied after 6 months I can always go have another ablative resurfacing.
A request to everybody -
No matter whether the results you got from Fraxel is positive or negative - pls do this discussion forum a favor by giving full details of why you think it didn't work, what type of skin you have, what kind of scarring you have (a good resolution pic in this case would be really helpful). These details will help any educated person to make some informed decision on whether or not to seek Fraxel treatment. Just bitching that it didn't work for you or singing glories does little help. If you feel that you've got help yourself in this forum and since you already do hangout here - why not post in a manner that will be of help to others.
I myself took the plunge after probably reading each and every posting in this Fraxel thread. I'm done through my second one now, and do feel that it is helping somewhat. But again, I don't want to conclude anything yet because it seems like the Fraxel results takes time - i.e. wait for atleast 6 months post your last Fraxel to fully evaluate your results.

Believe me, I feel the same way, people will randomly pop out of nowhere and say "fraxel is good" or "fraxel is bad" without stating their scar levels (which is important) as well as their skin type and how long they've waited before seeing results. The problem with that is that someone who has shallow scarring (and who can benefit greatly from fraxel) gets on these boards and see these negative comments from someone who has had deep ice-pick scars and they jump to the conclusion that fraxel is bull, when in reality the man with the shallow scarring reading these opinions can benefit from it greatly.
Arya... I know exactly how you feel! 👿Anyways, I would like to hear about this too. I am very hesitant about lasers, but not completely opposed to them. Can someone recommend a doctor in L.A. that does Fraxel laser for scars?
Hi,
I have light scarring across my cheeks which showed no improvement with chemical peels over the years so I decided to try Fraxel. After two sessions I saw hardly any improvement. The doctor agreed and decided that Active/Deep FX would be a better choice (it wasn't around when I got Fraxel). I did my own research and read much better reviews on it so I took the plunge and got it done today. It's a little more intense than Fraxel, but bearable. I'm excited to see the results after the down time.
Bottom line--laser resurfacing is really the only way to go when it comes to acne scars. In my personal opinion, the stronger, the better. I would say go for it! Good luck and I'll post results once I heal in a few days.
A good place to go is Westside Medical Spa in Los Angeles. They have Fraxel and Active/Deep FX.
Hi guys
Tomorrow I'm having my third treatment with the "palomar starlux". My doc says that I will have to have about 6 or 7 treatments. I am doing them every 2 weeks.
Here 2 pictures first:
A lot people here say that their doc do "8 passes" or something like this. My doc only does 3 per treatment (60mj output) so I am quite a bit surprised Shall I tell him to do also 8 passes or is it too much?
What do you think about my scars, will I have success with Fraxel or not?
thank you guys
d.o.m.
Alright, I'm about 3 weeks post fraxel. Don't feel like telling a long story so here's the short version:
Type of Scares: Mostly on forehead...what people call orange peel, deep and widespread on forehead, icepicks between eyes.
Me: 25, Asian-Chinese
July 2006-Level 20-whole face
December 2006-Level 20-forehead only
April 2008-Level 70-forehead only
May 2008-Level 70-forehead only
May 2008-Level 70-forehead only
Icepicks between eyes are noticeably softer (to me). I'd say 25% improvement.
Forehead...honestly my scars are so widespread that it's hard to tell so I'm not even gonna try.
Moving abroad soon so I'm done for now...
Will be using Retin A to help with peeling.

The the people on this forum who have had or researched fraxel (I,II, repair) would it work for the type of scars this guy has? they are identical to mine.
