Youandme -- I think you should be getting more passes.Wait, now that I've said that, I forget what it means that I've had 12. Isn't 2 passes when the doc goes over a strip of skin twice (1 back motion, 1 forth motion)?
Well he kind of divides my face like in sections and only goes (for example from my cheek to my nose) and then runs the wand really fast back and forth. he does the entire face like this, those are the horizontals....then he takes a little break for a few secs. Then he does the verticals the same way over the entire face. then he gets the areas that are my most problematic (ie my cheecks) and does some passes back and forth with the wand. By this time im ready to pass out.....so I dont think i can physically tolerate more passes.
I was at the Laser Dermatology Institute in S. California and they quoted me $8,000 for 4 full face Fraxel treatments ($2,000 each). And that was their "special" price.
Can anyone recommend somewhere that's cheaper? I don't mind traveling a 100 or 200 miles to get it done. I'm in the Los Angeles / Orange County area in California.

8,000? Are you kidding me? Here in AZ I'm planning to have a well-respected derm (and Chief of Laser Medicine for the valley) do 5 treatements for 4,000.

There's a place in Belmont Shores that does Fraxel 2 for $650 per treatment. PM me for more details.
So its been almost a month since my first fraxel. It seems like my texture is worse than before...my pores are huge, and I can still see a slight red line between my eyes and cheeks, where the fraxel treatment ended. My face is all over still fairly red, but its always been a bit red. Just more so now. May have been the longterm use of tretinoin causing the redness. Also may need to look into IPL after this, especially if I'm developing rosacea.
The worse part is if I feel my skin it feels very lumpy under the surface. I had some red surface bumps too. Its never been great but not this bad. They seem to be almost gone when I wake up in the morning, and I'm taking my antibiotics now, but they always seem to return by evening. not sure whats going on. Its like a breakout under the skin...
I've stopped using any products except for cetaphil cleanser morning, and La Roche Posay bar at night. Paula's Choice BHA at night, Skinceuticals Phyto+ morning with Purpose daily moisture spf 15.
Before that I was using Skincuticals AOX 15 in the morning, And an SPF 50 sunscreen by Sofina, which is supposed to be for sensitive skin.
I also used a new mask once, Cabots anti stress/redness vitamin E sample once, and it seems my skin got really bad just after, with the most surface red bumps. Now its just the lumpiness with a few small red bumps. Not sure whats going on, if it was the one time mask, my skincare routine, or the Fraxel...
Has anyone taken zinc supplements? I've been reading that they are for collagen rebuilding too, and may be more vital for it than C is.
Also, has anyone used copper peptides during their fraxel treatments? Do they think they helped? It seems that taking and using stuff that should help the skin build collagen would be important to how well your skin rebuilds after fraxel.
You're not supposed to use AHAs or BHAs while doing fraxel.
Is there a reason why you're not supposed to use AHA during Fraxel? I've used it as a cleaner during my treatments. I usually wait about a week to use it though. I use Cetaphil while my skin is still sensitive from Fraxel.
I am not going to lie.....60MJ .......hurt like a BEOTCH!!!!!!I started tearing up under the googles, and i thought I had a high tolerance for pain. Guess not....
I was told not to use any perscriptions creams like BP while undergoing fraxel (which i was doing...yikes!!)
Oh well, maybe ill just spot treat with it. In the event that I get another breakout from Fraxel, I had finally got everythign under control and now i just had my laser today. Oh well I will try to fight this by taking 2 doxy for 2 weeks, then move down to 1 a day.
I looked in the mirror after the treatment and i saw how tight and perfect (ie swollen) my cheeks looked & i said "i wish it would stay like this" and then I asked him, do you ever get results this good (pointing to my cheek) and he said that he did have a patient that has had 13 treatmetns and had started out w/ really really bad scars and how hes dosnet really have anything.
Ok i guess.....4 down.....9 more to go....... 🙁
I didn't ask the doctor directly but I did ask the nurse and she said BP is fine during Fraxel. Just don't use it right away obviously. And really I have no choice but to use BP and Dan's regime. If I stop it for a few days, I'll start to get pimples here and there.

Sounds good other then the fact that he's doing the passes really fast. My doctor went sort of slow, I guess it was more of a moderate rate. Not really fast and not really slow 😉
Yeah I agree with Zonk, lay off the products you use in between treatments. Be gentle to your skin.
Ok has anyone done the newest Fraxel repair yet? I did a search and didn't find anything. I see some threads about other fractional CO2 lasers but not the Fraxel. I guess it's just to new. I don't think my doctor is getting this machine so I need to find someone in my area who has one. I want to try this instead of going for another round of Fraxel 2's.

Wow! That's a whole lot cheaper. I'm glad I found this board before I decided to pay them the 8k.... Hard to believe why they're so much more expensive!

In Redlands, CA, Dr. Rasi has a company called Senza. He has a website. He has aesthetic clubs. Like I pay $100/month and have a different service every month. This month is my Fraxel treatment. I am going in an hour BTW. I had my last one last October. It was only a partial and I paid $400. I was in a different club at that time so it was more.
Someone else asked about seeing results months later. I can honestly say that my skin has only gotten better since my first fraxel last Oct. I had raised scarring from serious acne in my late teens. It has gotten worse since getting older cause of collagen breakdown, or so they say. To me, they looked like big blackheads under the skin and gives my skin a rough appearance. Since getting my first fraxel, my skin is much smoother, the tone is better and some of the scars have gone. I don't feel as many under the skin when I wash my face. My daughter said I look younger. I think it's great. I have no idea how strong it was , or how many passes. I swelled up and got red as a tomato. The swelling subsided in a few days but the redness lasted for a couple of months. My husband wondered if it would ever go away but go away it did.
Tonight I plan on sleeping sitting up in a chair to try and keep the swelling down. Also, do you think it's OK to go to an exercise class tonight? Anyway, I'll let you all know how my second one goes - if you would like.
It looks like the cost of fraxel treatments has really come down. $700 a treatment? Not so long ago I remember each treatment was over $1000.
If I had had a full face treatment in my former club, it would only have been $750. I had my second treatment today and I am very red. I will try to sleep sitting up tonight and see if that keeps the swelling at bay.
so can u do fraxel while on DKR???? anyone do it while having mildly active acne??
I posted before that approximately 1 week after my 3rd fraxel i began to get little breakouts all over, i decided to not exactly do dan's regimine but use dan's 2.5% lotion in the daytime under moisturizer, just in the day.
I found that my skin was getting kind of red and "burnt"like in some areas, not sure if that would happen to anyone or had anything to do w/ the fraxeled skin.....my breakouts stopped though!! hahaha..
oh well, this time around im just going to spot treat w/ 10% lotion in case any breakouts come, im also doing antiobotics 2x day for this week and next week.
Thought i would share with you guys...
Today was my first day back to work after taking off 2 days for my Fraxel on Monday. Normally (maybe cause my settings were lower) no one really noticed my flakey skin or the redness had all but subsided.
Well not today.....I didnt think i looked that bad, but my co-worker kept staring at me which made me feel self conscious.....and then she said "wow, youre really brave to come into work like that"
Then the lady in the cafeteria was like "what happened to you???" and when i just kinda shrugged she said "an accident?"
After that i just stayed in my cubicle hoping & praying that no one would come by to ask for anything or make me do anything away from my desk.
I got through the day though, left right at 6 on the dot. Hopefully tomorrow will be better and less red.....some of the MENDs have flaked off too, but still......its embarrassing.....ill know better to take more days off work next time......its just that i have so much going on w/ work i had to wait 7 wks just to schedule this treatment.
But i must say....im sure im still just puffy or swollen a bit...my my scarring isnt looking bad...not bad at all i must say.....
Wish me luck at work tomorrow...i HAVE to be fine by Sat.....i made plans and i dont know what im gonna do if im not.....
I hate downtime!!!!
Hi, i just got my first fraxel treatment yesterday and so far im impressed. Although i havent seen any improvement on my scars yet, most if not all of my enlarged pores are gone. And i mean LARGE. But my conditions of my face are still red and feels like sandpaper. My doctor gave my some skinceuticals products to help with the Fraxel treatment. But im wondering what the average time for your skin to recover from the redness,etc..

Don't be discouraged by anyone in this forum, keep on with the fraxel.
Has anyone asked their doctor if Fraxel permanently (or temporarily) damages the oil glands?
The Reliant webinars says it does. Over many treatment I worry that we might trade acne scars for dry skin, wrinkles, eczema.
I asked my derm at consultation and he was dismissive and said "oh, no". Then I pointed out the webinars and he said yes! LOL.
Would a few of you please ask your derm this next time you see them. If their dismissive point out the evidence to the contrary and see what they say!

If anything, I've heard it actually can give you acne from some users of fraxel, I hope what you say is correct. You can always moisturize, so...
