Hey Tamara BB I also live in Austin and was wondering who is doing your fraxel treatment and how much it is costing you. I have a series of 6 starting in August that I am having with Dr Nickolaidis for a total of $3200. When I had the consultation they said they only use the fraxel machine at one setting for acne scarring and leave it at that setting for every treatment.
I am also going to Westlake Dermatology, but I am having my Fraxels done the Round Rock location. It is the exact same price, but MUCH more convenient for me (I live in CP). It is interesting that they told you that about the one setting for acne scarring. The doctor in RR started me out at a moderate level for my first Fraxel and is going to a higher one next Friday. I wonder if they are more aggressive in Westlake? That is where I had my consult done. I would imagine they do a lot more out there than at the location in RR (which is a small office), so they may know what works better. What kind of improvement did they say you could expect to see?
Hello everyone~
I am hoping I can get some advice here. I have had five treatments of Fraxel one and feel like I might be really starting to see some great improvement. I am only two weeks out from the last treatment.
I would like to continue to improve my skin through topicals like retin A.
Does anyone know how long one should wait before using this product after Fraxel treatments have been completed? I know that retin A is not a good choice when going through the healing process as it inhibits the build up of collagen, I believe when used in conjunction with the lasers.
I am concerned becasue I would hate to undo a good process in the making. I know that we can still see improvements some six months post treatment, so I am wondering If I need to wait that long.
Thanks in advance for your advice.
Take care,
Annde
everything seems to be peeling on my face EXCEPT my forehead and i do have a lot of scarring on my forehead(2 indents, scarred pores and uneven skin texture). I was wondering, is this normal? or was my doctor not aggressive enough on my forehead?(this is my 1st treatment) I'm so upset right now, because forehead is the 1st more important thing where I want to get my scars rid of.

I found my forehead always peeled less, if at all and I attributed it to the fact my forhead (and nose) are the oiliest parts of my face, and I think that offsets the peeling. Don't worry. Also, different areas peeled first, longer and different so thats normal.
any more success stories?
ive done fraxel about 4 times. mainly in certain spots were my scarring is. It does work however to get a really good result i had to do it a few times. I think my dr. was really cautious to not go to deep. good luck to you all
kooky - my texture has drastically improved with the PSR3 treatment. I am doing two more. It is making a huge difference!
yep thats true. your collegen is still being repaired. its worth the wait.
Hi folks
It's been 4 or 5 months since my last post. I keep forgetting my password so I have gone from seanski to seanskii to seanskiii.
I apologise for not keeping on top of this thread but thought that I would post my thoughts as to the results of my 5th and last fraxel treatment in November 06.
The results that continue up to 6 months after the last treatments are certainly noticable but not overly dramatic. Nevertheless I am very happy with the overall results and will probably try 3 more treatments.
My skin tone and texture have definately improved. I have been recieving cologen treatment (injectables) for 20 years and that makes it somewhat difficult to judge the results of the fraxel but the fact that I haven't had any "fillers" for over a year is testimony to myself that there has been a significant improvement.
I didn't want to have any injectables before my fraxel (even though I needed them) and I have held off for the 6 months after Fraxel to see the final picture and am still very pleased with the results.
Good luck to all

That is great news! What % would you say you've gotten from the Fraxel?

I was waiting for that one cubs fan. It's tuff to describe in terms of %. I would say some scars are 15% some 60% but over all is 40%-50%. The tone helps and definately smoother. I'll eventually try 3 more treatments.
Hang in there folks
Cheers,
Hey,
I was just readon seanskiiis comments about filler and fraxel...
do you guys know if there is any issues to have 3 fraxels, then a filler, then in 2 months 3 more fraxels?... then a filler?
im wondering if the filler will affect the natural collogan growth.. my thoughts are it wouldnt in slightest as the fraxel will hit the dermal layer.. and the collogan will hit just below the epi dermal....
filler = cosmoderm or juvederm.
Thoughts troopers?
When I went for my consultation at the Westlake office they said that since I just had rolling scars on my cheeks that weren't too deep that they should be just about gone after the 6 tretments and any scarring left they could fill with artefill
They told me my scars should be (basically) gone, too. Interesting. I hope they are right! Good luck.
I saw my Derm today. It's been 2 months since my 2nd Fraxel 1. I have noticed improvement in texture and brightness. My face is much smoother. The Dr said she sees about 20% overall improvement in my scars. Not bad I guess for having only 2 treatments. My next is scheduled for April 30th. She says from what she has experienced, my skin is reacting nicely to the treatments and I will see many more changes in the next 6+ months as the collagen fills in.
This all made me feel a bit better since it's so hard to see improvement in yourself day to day.
i have another question. it's been about 5 days since my 1st treatment... my skin gets a little bit itchy sometimes, is this normal?

it won't affect collagen growth, but you might as well just wait until 6 treatments to do fillers as fraxel will zap them.

I didn't ask my doctor if it would affect cologen growth but did ask if it was OK to do the procedure while I had injectables allready. He naturally gave me the "go ahead". I'm not sure if you can say that it will not affect cologen growth. My gut feeling says stay away from the "fillers" if you can until the procedure is over but at the same time I am contemplating that same question right now and because the next earliest appointment is june 20th I think I am going to go with one of the available injectables myself. I think and hope that if the cologen growth IS affected it will be minimal if any...Hope so !!!

It's really not worth it. Reliant, in one of its webinars, says that fraxel will zap the filler. It'd be a waste of money to do filler then fraxel.
I had my first fraxel 2 yesterday. I plan on having 4 more, once a month. I got there an hour early and had numbing cream applied. 30 mins. later the remaining numbing cream on my face was redistributed( I was told this really helps with the absorption) then another topical numbing cream was applied 5 mins before along with the blue cream. It was painful, but not as bad as I expected reading previous posts.
The RN who performed the procedure has posted on Acne.org. That's how I located her. Her user name is ljgrn. She is very nice and really seems to care.
When the treatment was complete, a cooling gel was applied and it felt great. Then the blue cream was removed. They used a facial electrc brush to remove all of it.
The first day I didn't look that red or swollen, but I woke up this morning very swollen.
I'll keep updating when I see results.

Welcome to the club and good luck! Look forward to hearing your results.
What type and severity of scarring do you have?
