You can take the suture out but cutting and pulling from one end. You dont need to keep that long 2 to 3 weeks is enough time to get its strength. But follow your doctors advice. Laser so between to do at one month post surgery as it will

modify the scar much better

Had a large excision done by a plastic surgeon 2 weeks ago with absorbable sutures and the scar is extremely dark red.

This was an excision of a previously excised spot (an excision of an excision?) I was happy with the previous excision, he was actually just supposed to cut out the scar next to it but ended up cutting out the previous excision scar as well. I know it™s early but I had the same spot excised before with nonabsorbable sutures and it wasn™t this bad after removal.

The sutures are still there underneath and said they would take few months to dissolve. Is there any chance its cause of the sutures still being underneath and is this going to fade?

Can laser be done with the dissolvable stitches still inside?6BF9D296-893A-48E9-8951-5C43AFCB36C4.jpeg.4c2f4a60f2f9d0bcd20ce2705810cef2.jpeg

The redness will probably fade somewhat, but it will never wholly fade, at least based on mine. The middle stays red/light pink after fading some where it was cut. Mine is not as deep or red but it was created from 1/4th the size of a prior scar so like you a doctor made it larger.

If I was in your shoes I'd probably try to get something else that minimizes the appearance after healing more perhaps but what that is I'm not sure. I tend to side with Getsmart like a laser maybe with some sort of volume procedure maybe.

Yes. Excisions need three months at least to heal, then a full year. Dissolvable sutures are usually used for the fat layer or when there has been undermining. It can take 3-6 months for it to completely dissolve. It will leave a lumpy appearance for the time being. Usually though dissolvable sutures used on the surface skin is not ideal for face, can leave indention. Regular sutures are better and then removed 2-5 days depending on the tension and the scar location (i.e. movement of muscle through daily activity). I have no idea about laser on dissolvable, ask your doctor. Your body is still healing at two weeks. Follow up at 4-6 weeks with your doctor.
