Subcision

Hello everyone,

I made an appointment to get subcision done. I have a few questions for you all.

First, I know filler is very common to use when dealing with scars, and my doctor suggested using it in my case. I planned to get the subcision, see how much I improved, and then decide if I wanted the filler. However, they told me if I do that, it will be double the price.

Which is the second question I wanted to ask. He quoted me 800.00 for just one cheek (he wants to do one side at a time, not whole face). Does that seem expensive or is that the going rate? So, 800.00 for subcision, 300.00 for filler. If I do it separately, 600.00 for the filler. This is all for just one side.

The reason Im cautious about doing filler, is that Ive been hearing negative things about it lately, and that derms are getting away from using it. Plus, Ive never had foreign things injected in my body, the idea creeps me out a bit.

Has anyone gotten this done without the filler? Do fillers really make that big of a difference? Is there a way I can see what the difference would be with and without fillers to get an idea?

Thank you!

What kind of fillers? How bad are the scars(like, how many , how deep)? Price is relative, I got my subcisions done for like $300 per session probably a decade ago so $800 to me is expensive but that's probably the average price now.

I never had mine done with fillers but in theory, "fillers" should help to keep the scars from re-attaching. What does your doctor say about it? What did he explain? I honestly thought or read that saline injections were used as a temporary "filler" and saline injections are cheap.. I have no experience with fillers with subcision and maybe I read it wrong. I do have experience with subcision.

I've done subcision without fillers and the scars do reappear, but they do improve.

Personally I haven't heard any major negatives about filler unless it's permanent fillers and then complications could occur. Or if you do it so often basically it messes with the collagen or surrounding areas (I'm talking like if you do it a dozen times or more).

That's my impression. Personally I'd have little to no reservation doing filler with subcision once or twice to see, and you might want to just try a more temporary filler like juvederm or radiesse or something others have tried.

Of course it depends on the amount of scars and the technique/expertise of the doctor. I do think it's an art because the more you poke and the technique the more you might get results.

But do either. Subcision and/or filler. See what happens. Whatever you're comfortable with.

Follow Mr. Matt's journey. He used no filler and got great results. He DID start using suction towards the end of his subcision treatment(s) and I think it worked out really well. There isn't enough talk about suction and subcision.
