Hi all,
On my cheek is a slightly pinkish patch of skin from a huge cyst that I had around 20 years ago. The cyst was already large but became extremely swollen (like a small egg) when I was accidently kneed in the face. It stayed like that for around a year until I was finally put on Accutane & steroids which eventually caused it to randomly explode. From as far as I can tell, it's not depressed but gets redder when exposed to sunlight. The texture also seems a little 'off', maybe the pores are damaged, I'm not sure. When I've pointed it out to dermatologists in the past they've not been able to see it but it's very obvious to me when looking in the mirror in certain lighting.
Anyway, I had cannula subcision earlier in the week & as I have some newish rolling scars around it, this damaged area was targeted. I also had subcision in other areas of my face but this particular area has really swollen up (which isn't surprising as the doctor spent more time aggressively battling the tethers).
My question is, how does this work? Why were there tethers but the scar wasn't depressed? And what is likely to happen now that the tethers have been cut?
I've been suctioning since Day 3 which is of course prolonging the swelling & bruising. Should I avoid suctioning this area?
Thanks!
