Dr. Steven Mandrea!! He is working with me to get my life back after a botched excision that sunk my whole cheek. He did subcision plus filler and I am going back to him for the Co2 laser,

whatever you do don't let the specialist seeing you bring in students or proteges in while they are examining you. I did and after the punk kids closed the door on me to leave i heard them say i was nasty.

Keep it between you and the doctor.

The results = an improvement. He had to literally prop up my cheek as the plastic surgeon took such a chunk out deep and did not do dissolvable stitches under the topical stitches. Unbelievable - on a facial scar. I now know that is how the MOHs surgeries look so good - you do both! My whole cheek sunk in and was a dent. Dr. Mandrea has helped that and old scars on that cheek. It is no miracle cure though as I was hoping. So, he said the next step is to laser that cheek - and all the edges out, smooth the discoloration - make it blend, so I can look somewhat normal in that cheek again. Good luck! He is such a nice person. I cried in my first consult with him and he got me a tissue and he said I get how all consuming this can be...I believe he wants to help all of us acne and acne scar victims.

Wow that is disturbing i would complain and be traumatized! Youd think working where they work theyd know better than to make comments like that

That is awesome im glad you got improvement. Im excited to go see him and hopefully also see improvement. Thanks for your responses this actually helps my nerves about it alot. I am nervous about filler and it going into blood vessels but i know thats rare. Will you have to keep going back for filler to keep up the results?

Yes, unfortunately it will be an annual process. Restylane only lasts up to a year. Although, one poster on here said that hopefully my cheek's muscle memory will come back being propped up by the filler. Also, I have read many studies that Restylane builds our own collagen. My healing due to the trauma and the tissue not connecting before Dr. Mandrea's subcision and filler was just not connecting - the blood flow, the whole process. I am hoping what he did also kickstarts my own body's response to healing. I have 0 concerns about filler going into my blood. It is nearly 100% hylaurounic acid which is natural, in our body. Worried about bellafill that is permanent with the micro beads or spheres. I may need to eventually due a fat transfer as that is permanent, but such mixed results on that. Dr. Mandrea does not recommend it - he said it is so hard to predict and control.
