I've had these scars for a very long time... like over 15 years, but finally am in a place financially where I can do something about them. Can anyone identify the type of scarring I have and recommend some treatments? I think they are boxcars and icepick scarring. I just hate how many there are in a cluster, and the look varies from ok to really bad depending on the lighting.
I got the same
I got the same and I have tried everything lasers fillers tca cross punch excisions and grafts prp microneedling spent thousands doctors promises turn to lies...not trying to put you down but best is a psychologist or psychiatrist to cope if they put you down as they did me still at 45 years old...
Also when you get older they will come back the same and worser as we age
You have widespread scarring punch excision wont work. You dont have the deep ones. Your scars are somewhere in between. In your case you need to keep on ablating the edges of scars and lifting the scar up with subcision as much as possible. You can also try phenol cross but results are not apparent soon. See dr Taylor from Salt Lake City Utah he ablates edges of boxcars specifically on boxcar edges or if you can find someone locally that is fine make sure it is erbium laser as you are ethnic skin type. Dont treat in one month increments the standard is 3 months in between to see if the treatment is working. Excision will work but you wont see the difference you need as you have widespread scarring. The best way to know if excision for you is to markwith blue marker the scars that bother on your face and see in mirror and visualize if these were removed will you see a difference. If the answer is no then excision is not the answer. Tca cross can also work in lifting scars but could widen the scars as well. But this is not issue as the base of scar is lifting up as well. And then you can do fractional laser to blend in further. And remember dont judge from one treatment. Dr Taylor does combine subcision and ablative laser in the same session on the scar edges. He also combines fractional ablative in the same session.
mid you are able to smooth the scars as much as possible then filler will work. When people say that treatments dont work they try and compare their results to pre acne time. The way these scars treatments work is scar lifting but it doesnt complete remove the scars it lift the scars and the edges are smoothed. It wont be 100 percent like before but enough to move your mind away from thinking about it all the time. The cherry on top is always filler at the end when you have smoothed out a lot of the scars and lifted them up. This will be as close to looking good as possible. And then almost flawless with makeup.
getsmart121 summed it up perfectly...I have same scars but more and some deeper ones....exicsion doesnt make a difference as they are widespead....noone in australia offers phenol peel its one thing i have not tried out of all the acne scar treatments i done in 20 years.....what do people think of phenol peel? i have heard it too doesnt work as well as its hyped to be for this type of scarring?

Here is a post I asked about the question on phenol chemobrasion, I added some pictures of patients who had phenol chemobrasion. The office of rullan told me it is 5 times more powerful than Co2 laser as it liquefies the skin and on day 2 they literally remove the dead skin with toungue depressor and place phenol acid on the raw skin for further penetration.
here is the post with patient pictures:

Hey your scarring is not deep at all you just need to blend the scar to normal skin. I think phenol chemobrasion can work for you since your trying to fix texture and not lifting scars. The smooth transition from scar to normal skin is what the goal is and hence becomes unnoticeable and finally filler to get it more closer to the way you like it.
did you try consulting dr rullan. Since phenol is a deep peel that is also going to remove years from age.
watch this video this is exoderm alone and not chemobrasion but comparable:
@getsmart121, thanks for your analysis. I live in the Bay Area and was thinking of contacting Dr. Rullan for a consultation - do you think he is a good choice vs Dr. Taylor? When you say "ablating the edges of the scars," is that done via laser or something else?
Also, did you ever go forward with the phenol chemobrasion?
I think dr rullan is also a good choice usually is good with lifting scars but texture wise not so much with phenol cross you wont see much or will take more sessions. Youcan 2 two sessions with him first to see if ithelp your scars or not and then go for laser with dr Taylor if it doesnt help, for me personally it didnt do much to my boxcars so I went with laser option and sawgood difference in in the edges of scars ie softening. In either case lifting scars is important as well
key thing to look for improvement is lifting and a little bit softening, if it is working then you are on the right track.
I personally didnt had phenol chemobrasion sound like a good procedure for softening of scars

Heard phenol chemobrasion is the icing on top as the last treatment once the scars have been lifted up

Phenol chemabrasion is not worth the pain downtime and potential side effects , Rullan is making bigger deal out of this then in reality it is

Thanks for the reminder. Been looking up the phenol peel all night as consideration bcif fillers require maintenance every year or so, would you have to be dependent on Dr. Rullans officefor a lifetime or a local experienced medspainjector would be good enough?
I have a lot of shallow forehead scars and was hoping the phenol peel would solve most of the texture issue and very shallow scars. Are you even able to gauge it if you have filler all over your face?
