Hello everyone,

I decided to share some of my recent acne activities. I am 18, soon 19 years old. I started having acne back in 3rd grade. In highschool it started getting out of hand. Nearly nothing worked on my face or if it did, it didn't last for long. I did benzoyl peroxide and many more along the years.

I heard about accutane 8 months ago, documented myself and started the treatment soon. I took it for 7 and a half months from lowest dozes( 10-40 mg first 6 months ) to my highest( 60 mg last 1 and a half month ). I have 65 kg. I stopped it on 13 may ( so nearly 2 weeks ago ) because the hair loss and thinning have gone out of hand ( still is ). My face didn't really visually clear up, but in my last month I didn't break up that much, at the end of the treatment not having more than 1-2 active acne.

Now my dermatologist recommanded me to go again on bp for atleast 3 months, but I don't have active acne left( not more than 1 ). I don't know if I will continue it for long.

What I am left is mainly rolling scars and probably some boxcars or icepicks. Hyperpigmentation also, but it goes away eventually. I will attach some photos, even though I don't have the best lightning. My right cheek is the worst, followed by left cheek and last but not least, the forehead. The nose, above and under mouth are ok. I don't know if I should be going for subcision, co2 laser or co2 fractional. All I know is that i need to wait 5 months to get the accutane out of my system.

I need some help, what scar treatment should I go for?

Thanks a lot, everyone.

Davin Lim suggests it's better to combine Differin with BP than BP alone. For your scars, consider getting subcision and Sculptrafollowed by TCA. Subcision will cut any scar fibers that are held down and Sculptra will help stimulate collagen. The rough texture can be ironed out with TCA. That would be the standard treatment protocol. In the US, it will cost you somewherebetween $1000-1500 per treatment, depending on where you live and how professional the doctor is (usually $500 for subcision, $700 sculptra, $300 TCA). This could be cheaper elsewhere in the world.
