What do you think? This might be off the topic alittle and I apologize but all of you have such amazing knowledge of the skin, I would like your opinion :) I had two lesions on my face removed 3 months ago due to a rare condition.while its healed for the most of it the linesits created are still abit red/brown and texture uneven..I was thinking of trying Retin A to help speed up skinturnover..while I understand my scarring will never go away my question is do you guys think its too early to start trying to improve my scars 12 weeks after surgery?
thanks so much!
@Athina1999I had to move your post, it does not belong in scarless healing. You want treatment. Scarless healing is a theoretical post.If anything Slyrup or whatever it's called is marketing on our forums here indirectly. Ravi knows nothing about skin and is going off marketing, I do not know if he works for the company as well. If you look a the ingredients of that product it's a basic mixture we have been using for years for discoloration after scarring. This is called PIE or wounding post acne or in your case surgery. Niacinamide is one ingredient, another is silicone patches or gel. There are lightening ingredients as well like licorice, kojic acid, arbutin, etc.
Red-brown is PIE / Hyperpigmetnation: V-beam Laser at a dermatologist is very effective for this, Silicone scar patches can help, Vitamin C serum can be helpful when your past the initial wounding phase. Retin-a nightly can help once your past your wounding phase.
12 weeks after surgery silicon, retinoid but not under it, sunscreen, a skin lightening product like the pca hydroquinone free gel on amazon, and hypeprigmentation spot peels. Niacinamide which is in Slyrup.
It's a slow process and laser is the most effective.
Hey @beautifulambition , I swear I am not connected with those people. The company i work for makes semiconductor chips , If you think that post was a promotion , go ahead delet it , I won't feel bad or anything. You are the most knowledged person.
Even one interesting thing i wrote a comment to Dr. Lim to investigate about product , he said he will look into it.
Remember that movie dallas buyers club 🙂 , when mattew was selling people effective drug and doctors were not ??
I will give it a try for 6 months and will post before and after, then you be the judge. Some one has to be get scamed to prove it to be scam , let it be me. 🙂
@Ravi.kumar.engineer That's not the point (Thank you very much for your kind words) 😉
You can buy The Ordinary niacinamide. Use a cream like the PCA hydroquinone-free gel with similar results or many of the other whiteners on Amazon - look at the ingredients, my friend. The active ingredients are the same. If it does you well so be it. I have no issue. But it does not get rid of scars. It will like any retinoid or skin lightening cream work on your PIE / PIH and shallow scars because of skin turnover. I don't like their marketing practices. They are using marketing to rope in the desperate that there is some magical cream to cure scars. See the below. Many things can help with PIH / PIE. If it does well for your condition that is all that matters! Retinoids can also help those with the mildest scars and they were sold similarily by foreign companies when they first came out.
This is PIH - Hyperpigmentation
Severe Acne Scarring:
This is Scarring
