What Type of Scarring Do I Have?

Hi guys,

During my mid teens I had a moderate bout of acne that would flare up every few months.

Unfortunately my parents never sought treatment for me leaving me with low confidence throughout my teens. Consequently, it was left to clear up on its own.

I've realised very recently how awful it looks under particular lighting and at certain angles causing my low self steem to come flooding back and urging me to seek treatment to at least make it significantly less noticeable.

After scouring the Internet for days however I am unable to determine the type  of scarring I have.

I understand that the picture quality isn't the best ;however, I believe they capture the appearance rather well regardless.

I've look at the skin under a mirror that magnifies. It is very difficult to determine of there are any pits or depressions in the skin further adding to the trouble in making a diagnosis.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

@ApoplecticI am having trouble seeing what your seeing. Can you tell me the issue that bugs you more. Is it the skin texture on the forehead or the raised whitish looking hypertrophic scars?

Your scars are mild, and treatment may cause side effects or not the amount of improvement you want. I would start with botox to soften thing.

Please be prepared the forehead is the worst area to heal and treat,, constant movement, muscles, veins, thin skin.

...

If there are any pits you need subcision.

If it's the second you need to have dilute steriod injected into the scarring to flatten them. Unless I can't see the issue well in the picture. Followed by laser resurfacing(erbium fully ablative, or 1927nm in full density mode). & low density co2 3-7% on high power or rf needling.

USe nightly retin-a or tretinorin to get some cell turn on going on.
