Hi, I have just found this wonderful site full of information whilst I have been searching for something to get rid of the scarring on my face.
I always had good skin, even when a teenager, hit 30 and it's been awful since. (3 years)
i have been to the drs so many times and they don't seem interested.
I have taken a long course of antibiotics and a number of different prescribed creams, I've tried tea tree, clearasil all the usual stuff. Changed contraception, stopped contraception completely, nothing is working. It's really starting to get me down.
I want my clear skin back with no horrible marks.
where do I start? I want to get rid of the scar marks mainly. It's 90% on my face and 10% on my back in the top section.
I have been looking at microdermabrasion although I'm not sure it will be strong enough to make an improvement.
please bombard me with what products I need and what treatment will help me. I've had enough!
Thank you x
Have included 2 pics of my face as it is now, doesn't effect my forehead.
Your skin is a bit red, creams maybe?
its best to take pictures that highlight the shadows also, just stand under a light at night time, then snap some selfies to show any atrophy or deficiency.
looks like you got mild texture issues (but yes we refer to it as scars)
ice picks, scarred pores and some tiny rolling?
Thank you.
I have been using 0.1% daktarin which the drs prescribed. It's the only thing I have been using, although it's having no effect in helping!
Have tried to take better pictures.
Im not what type of scars they are as I don't know the terminations yet.
im hoping to hear recommendations for what to use to try and clear my skin and what treatment to help with the scaring/texture.
Thank you for your reply. It's getting me down now so I need to sort it out as drs are not bothered!
Your cheeks look quite stodgey,i would allow your skin to return to some normality and take on its natural color.
you got ice pick and scarred pores but you got a few realy shallow rolling scars.
See this thread:her treatment would be something you could do but alternate with needling, some tca cross work for ice pick, you dont have loads of them, the scarred pores will be treated with tca peels and the rolling scars will hopefully respond to needling which promotes collagen growth.
Hello, I cannot recommend tretinoin enough. Disclaimer though - it will do little to nothing for your actual scars (texture abnormalities.) However, it is amazing for correcting discoloration. It takes time though, and has irritation and dryness and sometimes flaking side effects. Work your way up to the 0.1%. You can even get it from online pharmacies. It can help improve surface texture. Any little bit helps with acne scarring because it's so hard (sometimes impossible) to treat.
I know that the discoloration is probably not what you're here for, but IMO your scars are not that bad and getting an even skin tone back helps a lot and makes your skin look much better, even with the actual scars. Your skin will look better and you'll need less makeup (if you're like me you've noticed that makeup accentuates scars.) Let me know if you have any questions. I know how you feel; I am totally obsessed/fixated with my acne scars right now, it's a terrible feeling.
Actually @labellavita1985I have had tretinorin fully help light acne scarred people before. But you are right, it works well in between treatments for other modalities.
@Fedupwithmyskin!You scar issues do remind me of @labellavita1985solutions.
She did not like her large pores, scarred mancules, etc...
TCA cross is the treatment of choice to raise the scars (you need several of them)
And several Spot TCA peels for your cheeks (to work on the surface)
To learn more about peels goto the scar solutions sub, top post faq, find the tca section, and click the link (especially the first page of that)
The reds are treated with vascular laser as this is PIE post acne, other solutions are found under skin and PIE.
Remember it will take several of them.
Other solutions which I do not advise using first are clear and brilliant laser for large pores, or fraxel for large pores. This is expensive and has side effects. The TCA will give you results if you stick with it.
