Summary of my story:
March 2013 - Got knocked in the forehead by a drunk guy who threw a bear bottle. Created a 2-3cm gash in my forehead
PS put on micropore tape and told me to massage with silicone cream.
6 months later, scar became either keloided or hypertrophic (one doctor said cyst). Tried a few Steroid, 5FU etc, only helped slighlty
Visited 10 doctors locally, all gave different opinions - some said to cut, others said to leave, others said to inject more etc.
March 2016 - Went to NY, USA and had CO2 laser to the scar - helped with flattening and texture
July 2016 - Had another CO2 laser done in my hometown - Johannesburg, South Africa. Results were terrible - massive texture changes, white patches etc in an are 3x the size of the original scar
March 2017 - Went to LA, CA to see 3 doctors, last doctor gave 3 steroid injections and suggested microneedling
June 2017 - Bought Derminator, needled at 0.75mm and went the next day for 45 minutes in the winter sun to try restore some pigment
July 2017 - Woke up one day to find whole area around the wound is now whiter than ever and area has inflamed more than normal.
I am now about 8 weeks post microneedling and it is not looking any better (couldn't get the texture of whiteness to fully show in the picture, looks worse than the attached).
Besides the emotional pain I am currently going through (wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy), I'm getting tired of going through treatments that just make the situation worse than before.
My question is - price and location do not matter - I need a recommendation please of a doctor who can take a look at me , explain what went wrong with the previous treatments and help me repair my head as best as possible.
Please can you recommend someone who has had extensive experience with different types of healing that can assist
Thanks in advance for the help
I see the white patch. Between all the injections and laser this is bound to happen as they have damaged the under neath tissues. At this point it's though to deal with. This is not a traditional acne scar problem. You need either Dr. Davin Lim in Australia or someone to do a pot peel on the spot possibly to level it more. The white may be permanent. They have a protocol for white scars, goto the faq, top of the acne scar sub, then to the skin section and find hypopigmented area. I think most Dr's at this point who are PS would cut, then attach back in a geometric pattern for a smaller scar that is flatter. You could also try Dr. Niamtu who is a PS. You might need to go about flatting it more, and put some makeup over it, ... pigment is the hardest to deal with. They do have medical tattooing but I would not suggest this for a few years when you try everything else. Post your pictures on realself.com and get the doctors to give you a free recommendation. I can see many PS wanting to do scar revision (cutting and closure, then laser this shit out of it, this does not solve your white though). Get BOTOX if you have anything done!!!! You don't want muscles moving. You could try to aggressively try to flatten it with tca spot peels or laser, then worry about the rest latter on.
