Bellafill Opinions/Alternatives (With Photos)

Hi!
I'm seeing a plastic surgeon next week regarding Bellafill for my scarring. Of course I've been reading horror stories about it as well as successes.
Anyway, before I go I'd just like to know if any of you had luck with other treatments for scars similar to mine?
I've done a series of about 10 TCA peels in total over about 2 years, but I've only worked up to 18% & therefore have not seen a massive improvement.
I bought a derma roller, but I found the texture of my skin almost got worse (?), so I didn't stick with it out of fear.

It also seems like I have a combination of icepick, boxcar & rolling, but I'm not entirely sure either.
ANY stories/advice is MUCH appreciated! I just honestly don't want to waste my money or be scammed into expensive treatments that won't produce results, or worse, that will ruin my skin permanently.

The scars generally look better without makeup I've found, but I tried to find the photo that displays them best for this purpose. Photo was taken in natural light.

TIA!

Your scars are really no big deal. Not worth the issues that comes along with Bellafill.

Dermaroller can tear the skin, therefore a dermastamp (manual or electric) work much better. I would def try that first.

Thanks for the feedback! I feel like I definitely did damage with the dermaroller.
Dermastamp being something I should do at home or in office, in your opinion?

We have discussed this heavily here. Please goto my faq top of scar sub or below signature, find the filler section and click the link to the mega post. Nothing that is permanent is good for you. Bellafill is a permanent fiberglass ball placed in the cheeks, as you age it does not age with you, it cannot be dissolved, it has a history of migrating and grandulomas (bumps). You cannot say oh I don't like it anymore, please dissolve. It's not natural like a HA filler is (found throughout the body), it can make biofilms and encapsulated cysts. No doctor will tell you this, just like they push laser on everyone. It makes them mega money and it's a gamble of side effects. People with acne are sensitive, why add something else to the mix. There will be longer lasting fillers that are safe in the future, why lock yourself in with this or silicone.Few Drs will do facelifts on you because well your at risk with this filler in your face. As we age our body changes, sags, scars change. I like to give people treatments that are relatively safe and work, but there is just too many side effects here. Please research realself.com by the way this filler was called artefill just a few years ago with horrific patient outcomes, it's banned in many countries. Why is it legal in the USA Pharma and greed $$$$$$$$$$$. You are at risk if you have laser or any energy treatment with this, it can cause further complications as the laser stimulates it.If your trying to do this because of cost permanent vs temporary. Why don't you get a permanent hair style, dye, permanent clothing style, or eat just one type of food .... the logic here is we pay for things to upkeep us (botox, massages, coffee, clothes), yet you want a permanent filler in your face when you could use HA when you needed it as upkeep.By the way the only way to remove it is to cut it out of the various places in the face.

I LOVE your make up girl!

Also: i'm wondering why docs say this is a semi-permanent filler, because it is a fullblown permanent thing. Why do they say that it lasts for like 5 years?

I'll tell you right now that Bellafill will be a CERTAIN DISASTER in your situation. You barely have acne scars. There's no where for the filler to go. Case closed.

Bellafill is a PERMANENT filler. Do not listen to anything that they say otherwise. The only reason why they say this is a 5 year filler is because the clinical trials for this filler stopped at 5 years. They stopped following patients at 5 years. That's why legally they can only say it is a 5 year filler. The microspheres in the filler never degrade, and will never be metabolized by the body.

It shouldonly be consideredif you have truly deep, disfiguring scars.

Separate question I have that could be of interest to OP: what are merits of Dermastamping vs derminator? For OP, I believe she has a veryminor issue, so I think dermastamping would be better for her because she is spot treating. But for more moderate to severe scarring, I would think the derminator is better. Is that right?

You've already got some good answers, but I want to urge you not to do bellafill too. It's not going to hide those minor scars, and will likely just make things a whole lot worse.

I don't see icepicks or rolling (this one could just be the lighting, mind), just boxcars. Another recommendation against Bellafil.

Use a stamp rather than a roller since you're going to want to spot treat to avoid unnecessary needling. You can do this yourself at home, look at the Owndoc instructions as a stepping off point. "Worse before it looks better" is a common report with practically all treatments - remodeling takes time, you should be ready to play the long game.

It's a cost thing. If you're in it for the long run, even with the cost of the unit it'll work out cheaper.

I appreciate all the answers a ridiculous amount!
THANK YOU everyone!
I've decided not to go the Bellafill route. I'll be looking into stamping for sure.
Honestly, thanks guys, this advice may have saved my skin permanently. My appointment's tomorrow & I'll no longer be asking for Bellafill.

Hey so I recently got bellafill last month 2 syringes each side of my face without any subcision. There was a little bit improvement but I was expecting alot more. Than I come back to my plastic surgeon who is very replicable I think bc he has the best reviews around my area ( Richmond Va )and I asked about subcusion and he says he doesent recommend it because he hasnt seen great results. I was wondering what people think of this? I am now doing micro needling. My scars are rolling and box scars in the cheek area.

@getsmart121

can anyone weigh in on this. Im set on getting bellafil for my acne scarring and dont want to have temporary filler anymore. It doesnt last that long on me IMO and Id much rather have permanent filler. I just read this here today and it has me concerned. I know if anything goes wrong with it you cant have it removed. I know all that but now Im doubting my choices.

The way doctors manage that risk is they do test spot on your skin and only inject very limited filler each time session typically less than what is needed to fill the atrophy till it gets sufficiently filled. But again they dont know what it does long term. The same vaccines right in the short term it looks safe but no one knows what happens longerm with these permanent fills.

Which filler u had previously and how long did it last for you?

Interesting.Bellafil is FDA approved and it is safe. It only lasts 5 years and studies have shown it is safe. I have seen a few YouTube videos on it too. It looks really good. But the issue is theres not much out there on it so its hard to make a judgement on it.

Restylane and juvaderm, mainly. I think Ive had others too but never asked. 3 months at best. It doesnt last beyond that IMO.

Interesting then why they do they say it last 12 months for restylane or juvederm

How are your results holding up lately. You had done fully ablative laser in the past how much was the ablationdepth?

I think most people see it reabsorb 1-6 months, average 3 like you say. 12 seems like a marketing thing. I need to get a filler but juvederm is so temporary and only thing doctors recommend. I still have no clue what to do on one larger scar.

I think the risk is the clumping or shifting of it and permanent risks. The other guy on the other thread showed for example how it clumped his and that's something nobody wants to deal with. Just an educated guess here but I think the layers underneath and damage (gaps) are unpredictable per person so clumping is a higher risk per person per damage or as we age.

I think there's no real easy solution. Most doctors I spoke to really advised against permanent fillers probably because it's unpredictable. One surgeon told me to try fat transfer but who knows.

Anyone have any other filler advise I need some too. Juvederm is too temporary. Is there nothing that lasts at least 1-2 years that reabsorbs slower and is safer?
