Cortisone shot for ear scar while on accutane?

Hey guys, so i'm meant to be starting a low dose of accutane soon, 10 mg every other day for my acne. I have a hypertrophic scar on my industrial piercing however that I'm trying to get rid of and although it isn't a keloid, it isn't just a tiny bubble, it's a bump. I've heard these can get smaller over time and eventualy flatten with saline soaks and massage , etc. But I'm thinking of just getting one or two cortisone shots and being done with it.

If i went this route, would it be safe to do so on accutane ? I know accutane slows healing, hence i'm not even sure if the bump would go away no matter how much i tried to heal it naturally because the accutane would surely be interefring a little. So i risk having it take longer.. and wait and see. or . not go on accutane at all to let it heal longer, or ask for a cortisone shot with possible risks? Since this is my ear I don't think there would be a large chance the shot would scar it , but im waiting to speak to my derm about it

Any advice?

I have bad experience with cortisone shots but It was on my face.
I do not know exactly how is your scar but got it is a bump. if it is that part of the Ear with fat maybe you can have atrophy.I think that wheter it do not bothers you too much you should wait.about the acuttane I think It will not be a big problem and is important to prevent future scarring .

You could do this, discontinue before injection or surgery at least a week or two, then continue after when it heals up. Low dosage Accutane can be discontinued while treating. There is another surgical technique:

Hmm I'll talk to my derm about it tomorrow hopefully. Yeah probably best to wait till after the accutane, Good idea ^ I could take a small break for a few weeks if needed.

I don't think it's a keloid though.. It doesn't get bigger or spread. I've heard hypertrophic scars actually take a quite a bit of time to flatten out so it could be worth waiting rather than spending more time and money into a little injection.

Hope it works out for you let us know how it goes. That compression earring thing in the video looks great. You could probably buy some and try that first before being injected or surgery.

Thankyou! I was going to look into compression things, it probably wouldn't effect my accutane course too. Anyway I will get someore info from my derm today. It is just a little bump, maybe i am overreacting since every derm ive seen says just leave it.
