Treatment for my forehead scars?

Hi,

First post. Been following the regimen for years. I had an outburst of cystic acne on my forehead for a year after giving the regimen a break (major mistake btw)

Been back on regimen for a while now and got my acne back under control. I really need to deal with these scars now. I'm not sure if they're rolling or atrophic or both. Indoors It's extremely hard to tell I've got scars but when there's shadowed lighting it's obvious and looks horrid. I have olive skin and am looking for the best way to treat these scars. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Can post more pics if needed.

Many thanks!IMG_6298.JPG

The forehead is filled with vascularity (that goto major arteries). A lot of doctors will not treat here unless it's a laser. My suggestion is to get the derminator microneedle machine, do that once a month and when you heal alternate with TCA peels just on the scarred areas. Your scars are not that bad. Please be aware the lines are from your forhead (frontalis) muscles and only botox can fix this, no scar treatment will. In fact between you eyebrows (procerus) is a very strong muscle that will need some botox to stop the scars getting worse there as you age. Botox will help soften a bit of this too.  The one deep scar coud be treated with subcision, but most dr's won't put filler there, so you'd have to suction it. To recap, at home do the derminator and tca peels for a year, possibly get subcision for your deepest tethered spot. Botox would help

Please checkout the below link in my signature (for the FAQ) and goto the various sections that I mentioned. Keep us updated with pictures and what treatments worked during your scar healing journey (scars are never one and done, everyone heals differently, and  they take a while for the body to get "some" healing).

Thanks for the response. Given me a lot to think about.

Laser is never my first choice, it can have side effects. But The Infini RF would be best for these type of scars and is used on any skin type, it takes a few of them, and collagen grows in a few months.

Right, i see. Is there side effects of using the derminator? I keep coming to dead ends because I've heard horror stories of laser treatment yet also of microneedling where it's left loads of tiny holes in the skin.

There are no side effects to the derminator, unless your not clean when you do it. Tons of people on these boards do that and TCA. Laser burns skin or can make you loose fat as a side effect, it's a gamble, no micro needle machine does thing. Your stimulating collagen in those microscopic pin holes. If someone if microneedling more than once a month at 1.5mm to 2mm sure they can be doing to much, scars take a long time to heal and treat. If they are using chemicals and doing things they can make it worse (picking, excess sun, unhealthy lifestyle). Or they could heal poorly, some have auto immune like diseases or fragile skin. I don't see you having any of this from what I see in the pics. Their derma rollers leave track like marks from dragging, the derminator does not do this.

Regarding the TCA peel, I've spoken to a dermatologist who wants to start with an 18% peel.

However from what I've read In darker skin, the usual Glycolic/TCA peels can lead to ˜hot spots™ where penetration is very quick. This can lead to burns and Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) in darker skin types.

I fall into category 4/5 skin type and he has done that type before but I'm still nervous about wether to go ahead and am considering retin-a prescription first. Any thoughts?

@th3gentl3man

Have your derm start you before (2 weeks) the peel on retin a / tretinorin and hydroquinone aka skin bleaching cream, you will also use this after your peel. This is standard to prepare your skin type for a peel. Some also use vitamin C serum. It stops any hypigmentation.

Hi @th3gentl3man, did you ever go ahead with treatment? I have similar scarring so would be interested to see if anything worked for you.

Thank you!

I got tiny lines,cuts and pores after derminator( you could see it on my pics. Every 6weeks1,5mm. Worsening the texture. Definitely did not have it before needling.Probably because of long road intake and very fragile skin. I am not against Derminator, no, I just would like to say that everyone,s skin is different.
