So I'm pretty tired of the dermatologist I have now, he looks at my face for ten seconds, asks if I need a prescription refill and sends me on my way. I asked him about treating the rolling scars which cover half my face and he gave me a pamphlet for a laser facility. Seeing as lasers are very expensive and oftentimes don't help scarring (sometimes making them worse) I have no interest in them.
I've heard of many people being happy with the results of subcision. However, I haven't had much luck finding a reliable doctor willing to perform the procedure. Most of the dermatologists I've researched don't have much info about subcision on their websites, there are usually no before/after photos, pricing info, or reviews. So If anybody knows of a reliable subcision doctor in the Chicago area please let me know. Hell even the St. Louis/Indianapolis area, I'm willing to travel.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.
Goto the below FAQ, read the information on subcision, watch the video. Any expert filler / aesthetic injector can do filler and subcision, show them the video if they have not done it before. Your Dr will not do subcision because he is a general Derm not a Aesthetics Dr.
Plastic surgeons also can do this type of filling.
Hey, beautifulambition thanks for the info about going to a aesthetician/plastic surgeon.
Quoteshow them the video if they have not done it before
This is why I made the thread, I'd rather not have someone cut into my face if their only experience/training is watching a youtube vid. Do you know if there's some sort of database for doctors who perform subcisions?
IF they are doing subcision with filler (normal needle) they are not cutting into your face, they do this all day. They may not call it subcision because its basically poking or fanningthrough the scar tissue with a needle (not breaking it like full subcision) and placing threads of filler (so it does not doughnut. Many do not know it's called subcision, you have to ask during consult, or when you call around how many acne scar patients have they done filler with and what do they normally do, have them tell you their procedure. IF they cannot then do not goto them.
Sadly I think traditionalsubcision with a scalpel like needle is a dying procedure, ... it's cheap (for the patient / does not make alot of money), and not glamorous, and many are not trained in it. Aesthetics Drs want big $$$$ because they have all these new toys to pay for. They push lasers to do everything. Old time docs did subcision but the only way to find them is to call around, if you are rural then that means calling a cities dermatologists and asking. Many dermatology schools (colleges with this department) would offer the treatment. You might have to have it done on vacation or by flying somewhere. I would possibly post the question on realself.com of if anyone knows a subcision doctor in your area. Then you might look up their reviews can just call around. There is no database. I had a hard time finding one until I called 30 drs.
When I suggested the video to show them, it was more his technique, if they know acne scars and do filler to lift them. But I guess I am more adventurous if they are humble.
I definitely think some plastic surgeons would know how to do this, as they lift skin all the time. But you would pay $$$
