Hey guys,

Was just wondering your opinions on how effective a course of DermaPen would be on these acne scars. My scarring is quite localised but consists mainly of two deep-ish areas surrounded by 2 or 3 indentations - both pretty much identical on both cheeks.

I am considering a course of DermaPen (3 treatments). Some of the questions that I have really are:

Would I notice a big difference after 3 month spaced treatments? What can I do to increase the effectiveness of the treatment (Collage creams, tablets?) What depths would you guys recommend of the needle?

Thanks!

2.0 mm, the results will appear after 9-12 months. Use Vit A and C cream, colagen cream is useless.

I've had 10+ electric dermaneedling sessions at 1.5mm - 2mm and 10+ dermaroller sessions over many years and saw minor improvement - improvement not noticeable to others but noticeable to me. I have scars like yours but 5x more of them.

Dermaneedling is just one of those things you need to test and see if it works for you. It's not invasive and complications are minimal. Downtime is just a day if you don't mind looking like you're sunburnt.

Deeper scars tend to get wider but shallower as you needle. This can be a bad thing for overall look.

Anyway, I don't think you'll notice a big difference. This forum hypes dermaneedling, but "pics or it didn't happen". Most who claim good results don't have before/after.

Would 3 treatments be sufficient in your opinion?

No way. I have about 20-30 treatments in about 4-5 years at home.

So in general, most doctors/nurses are straight-up lying when they say 4-6 treatments of micro needling for scarring?

i just had the pen done at a doctors office for the first time last week. Initially I thought my scar filter softer, but the only thing it's really done is aggravate it and make it look red again. I don't think this is going to work.

professionals act like young people will produce all this collagen. I think this is a lie.

There should be noticeable results after 4-6 treatments, but continued treatment can be much better. Just look at remicade and others that pop in here every now and then. If you dont have any improvement at that point then needling probably wont help you.

If you are happy with your progress after your round of professional treatments maybe you will be comfortable to continue doing it yourself. Im sure somebody here can help you get started. There is a lot of good info in the derminator thread, or you can just inbox me.
