hi I'm new here but have been visiting the page for a while
i suffered acne from the age of 13 to around 26. I still suffer hormonal breakouts occasionally on my jaw line chin area but besides that I'm finally over acne ,however I have been left with scars which I am VERY depressed and conscious of I was bullied over my skin for years the usual pizza face bumpy skin jokes which have haunted me for years now I have unsightly holes which make yo just doesn't cover. They look particular bad in light be it sun or electric lol.
i do not know what type of scars I have and need advice on. Treatment .
I have purchased a derma stamp 0.5 for all over my face and 1.5 for scars , haven't used yet as want advice on serums etc
Is this even treatable ?
please could somebody kindly help me I am like many of you very self conscious .
thanks
Looks like boxcar and icepick scars. Do you only have scars on your forehead and temples?
No reason to wait for a serum or topical to start needling, just add that to your next treatment if you find any to use. A dermastamp is great for targetting scars, but for full face treatments it will likely take a very long time. 1.5mm is at the upper end of needle length for the forehead, you might be more comfortable starting with 1.0mm.
I would also consider TCA cross for the icepick scars and some medium chemical peels to promote collagen and even out your skin texture/color. Take a look at the FAQ thread if you have not already done so, some good info on all of these treatments.
thanks I did guess ice pick but wasn't sure it's hard to tell on yourself when you spent years looking at your scars lol ,I will check out the FAQ, I tried derma rolling a couple of years ago but wasn't keen as wasn't sure I was doing it right so ordered the stamp now heard better things and seems more straightforward thanks for your help
Some scars are difficult to identify, I think scars on the forehead are especially difficult because everything is shallower and it seems to be less common.I prefer the stamps to rollers as well, but it takes a lot longer.
Have you tried any treatments other than the dermaroller before?
