Hi All!
I just did a TCA peel (20%) a month ago. My skin is still a little red but not so shiny anymore. I'm happy with the results! However, my skin does appear to have that dreaded orange peel texture. (Which I will take any day over scarring!) Is this because my skin is still healing? Or is it traumatized? It is not sensitive to the touch and as I said, it no longer has a sheen to it.
I just got a prescription for Tretinoin cream .05% and am eager to get started on it! I actually used it last night and my skin seems glowy and smoother today.
My question is for the orange peel texture, should I use the Tretinoin cream or will that make it worse? I've seen tons of mixed reviews and it seems like the cream would improve the texture, but could also make it worse. I'm nervous to take such a risk.
Thanks for reading!
.05% Tretinoin has been such a blessing for my son. His skin is so much smoother, it's purged almost all the clogged pores and comedonal acne so now his Regimen topicals absorb so much better, it even seems to be helping his PIH!! (maybe I'm just imagining??) But it's definitely improved the overall texture of his skin...his skin is so soft and doesn't dry out as easily from the BP.At least that's our experience. I can't speak for others who may have had a less positive experience.
That is so nice to hear! I used Tretinoin once two days ago and aside from some small breakouts on my jawline, my skin seems happy, supple, and smooth. This could be because I'm using more moisturizer now? But personally, I want to use the Tretinoin! I purchased some Montana Ranch Emu Oil to use in conjunction with it. I'm just going to watch my skin and if it gets worse, consider discontinuing use. It could be in my head, but I feel like the texture has already improved!
I know everyone is different, which is why it's so hard to know what it best! (Especially when my doctor gave me no instructions at all.) Paying close attention to my skin and easing into things should get me on the right track!
Thank you so much for your response!

Be sure to only use a small amount, usually a pea-size amount of cream is enough to cover your skin in a light film. Tretinoin is powerful stuff and more is not always better! A light film applied once daily at night is all you need and it works great. Don't apply during the day, the UV rays will deactivate the active ingredients, so it must be used at night only. Just a few tips since your derm gave you no instructions (shame on them!). Your skin may go through an initial purge but don't get discouraged, this is normal!
Good luck with it!

Where can you purchase this? Is it only via prescription and can you get it in the UK?
Hey did your orange peel texture ever resolve?
