Hey everyone,

I recently visited a dermatologist and asked about options for scar treatment.

I noticed that the supporting staff (who are not doctors) conduct the laser treatment.

Should the doctor be conducting the laser?

sadly that's becoming the exception and not the rule....personally I'd only let the doctor do it, but it's more about experience with the machines I guess

you want to make sure that they have experience before they touch you, particularly if it's going to be a deep treatment -- perhaps the doctor does those and the lighter more surface treatments are done by the nurses and assistants

Absolutely the doctor. If you are dropping potentially thousands on a treatment I would expect nothing less than the doctor doing the laser treatment, no question. That is unacceptable to me that doctors would pass off the laser, a machine that can do serious damage if used incorrectly, to a nurse.
