Hey guys!
So like two months ago I started to notice that I was breaking out on the left side of my nose where my glasses frames rest (i.e. that area sort of between my eye and my nose). Has anyone else experience anything like this? I've been looking around on these forums for a similar question and can't find anything...
I kept whereing my glasses for like two months after that, which only made matters worse, as that was what seemed to have been causing my breakouts there. For the past two+ weeks I've just been wearing contacts, and while the acne is pretty much gone I think, there's still a lot of redness there (even on otherwise smooth skin). My skin is really pale so it sticks out pretty badly too... Any idea as to how much longer this is gonna stay here? Is there anything I can use that might speed it up? I can wear glasses, and that covers it up, but I'm afraid that doing so will really only cause the acne to return.
Thanks SO much!

Hi Hanley,
Sounds like your skin is having a reaction to your eye glasses. Just to clarify, does your eye wear have a metal frame?
Sweat and metal do not go well with the skin so you may have to go back to your eye doctor and have him recommend a material that is hypo allergenic to your skin to prevent any break outs in the future or you may also use a rimless glasses since it does not have any plastic or metal around the lens but instead uses a thin thread to hold it in it's place. Kind of like this one:
Hyperpigmentation usually lasts from six months to a year but you have to avoid using your glasses while your skin heals. You may use OTC products to help your skin heal faster.
Best of luck on your skin!

Hi Izzy,
They aren't metal, actuallysort of a wood/plastic hybrid I believe. At any rate, I had been wearing them for almost a year before they caused me to breakout, so idk what the problem is...
The redness/pimples on the part of my nose where, in that picture, the little clear plastic things rest on the face. (That part of my glasses is the same wooden/plasticy material as the frames.)
I'm going to wait another week or two before I even think about wearing my the glasses again, and just hope that it clears up, which it seems to be doing, albiet slowly. My mom suggested I wipe down the problematic part of my frames with rubbing alcohol before I wear them in the future.
Thanks again,
Hanley
