If my doctor told me I am going to be having Fraxel Co2 laser resurfacing, is Repair just an extended name for the treatment?
Or is Repair a different type of Fraxel treatment. I just want to know if it is Fraxel Repair I am having?
I prusume the treatment is going to be ablative as my doctor said he doesn't want to go too deep but he wants to remove a good level of the surface to level out the scaring.
Yes, if he says it is C02 then it is ablative. C02 laser is always ablative, no matter what the brand of laser (Total FX, Fraxel Repair, Mixto). Fraxel Restore is the non-ablavtive laser.
Fraxel Repair, is a C02 laser, and as a c02 laser it is most definitely an ablative laser. That means it will remove the top layer of skin, and essentially leave an open wound. You will bleed and ooze, so be prepared for that.

Ah, I get it!
So Repair would be the brand of the Fraxel co2 treatment? Therefore I wouldn't be able to guarantee they are using Repair unless I asked?
Which is the best brand anyway, may I ask? Or does that not make a difference and Fraxel co2 is Fraxel co2.....
Here's a pretty good diary of mixto co2 with a bunch of pictures(scroll down). This is pretty much a realistic expectation of the results you will get and the amount of sessions you will need. Never expect that only one session of laser is going to once and for all be the end, that never happens.
Yes, Fraxel is simply the name of the company, and their C02 laser is the FRAXEL REPAIR. A lot of offices deliberately try to confuse people by calling their laser Fraxel because people are familiar with that brand. They are COUNTING on the consumer not knowing the difference, which is not surprisingly what happens all the time. What they are saying is that their laser is "fractionated," meaning it doesn't burn away 100% of the surface skin, only a "fraction." You have to ask , because it could be some no name laser.
