Is There Any Solution To This? Large Pores, Scarring, Orange Peel Texture.

Hi everyone

A brief background- I am 23 and had bad acne, but only on my chin, when I was around 12-15. I then went on a course of antibiotics and my skin 100% cleared up.

Then suddenly when i was about 17 my skin started to look like this- massive pores, icepick scarring, orange peel texture, red, blotchy. Then a couple of years later the acne came back with it.

I have just finished a course of accutane that I started in August 2014. I have been on 20mg most of the time (went up to 30mg but only for about 6 weeks.) As you can see, the acne has basically gone but I am still left with this horrible texture.

I won't go too much into it because I know everyone here has their own crap and you don't need to hear my sob story! But honestly I am at breaking point. I used to be fun, bubbly, confident. My natural personality is just to chat to everyone and anyone and be really sociable but this is completely ruining my life. I find it so hard to look people in the eye or even talk to people in day light. I only really socialise at night but I know I can't live like that forever. I'm basically a recluse apart from going to class and my job (I'm a stuent so just work in a pub at nights at the moment.)

I have considered Fraxel and it seems for those who had a good experience with it, it REALLY worked amazingly. But I have read some horror stories too. My derm is pushing fraxel as she had it and got really good results.

any opinions or suggestions would be so appreciated here. Thank you in advance.

Your skin looks great. Im confused why your hiding it. Maybe you should do some Lactic peels for the redness. Youtube is always my answer.

1- first, your skin looks very good

2- redness make things looks more worse ( target the main cause for your redness ex ; rosacea , eczema or normal erythema)

3- i don't recommended fraxel for you but instead some rounds of dermapen + laser spot treatment only ( like active fx just over scars to shave edges) and may be some rounds of vbeam at end ..

I wouldn't go near fraxel especially since your skin looks great. Redness always makes skin texture look way worse. What is your skincare routine at the moment?xx

My adivce would to be stay away from any harsh products, that is if you use them. I don't use anything on my face, not even makeup, hardly even water (tap water is bad, mmmkay), and my redness is way down. I am having similar problems to you after using glycolic acid (big pores and the like) and my gentle regimen/using nothing has probably been the best for calming my skin down so far. I think usually orange peel texture means inflammation, but I am no expert :) If you have rosacea, I think that would cause your skin to be inflamed.

I too have read horror stories about laser, and personally I wouldn't do it, but that is of course up to you. It is for sure a risk. I have seen many people say that laser can actually cause orange peel texture, and have seen many pictures as proof on Realself and the laser damage support board, so that would scare me. Sometimes I still dream about getting laser for my broken blood vessels on my face and it working perfectly with no problems, but I am just too scared to risk it. Sigh.

Never mind the harsh peels and treatments that irritate sensitive skin. Purchase pure Aloe Vera gel and apply it to your face every morning and every night after your daily skin routine. Aloe Vera has antibacterial properties and also soothes and moisturizes the skin. With time, it will really help your skin. Give it some time and believe me on this one ! I have been currently using this and already after a week I am seeing a difference. It soothes, tightens pores and gets rid of hyper-pigmentation as well as acne. Trust me, give it a shot !!!

Vbeam laser treatment is great for the redness.. I've done multiple treatments with it and loved my results every single time.

I actually got this texture from fraxel. No lasers are proven to work for pore size and I have been told from a laser expert that even if they do, it is short lasting and the pores will return to normal.

I had good skin all my life. As soon as I started using an expensive face cream with retinol my mother noticed that my skin started to look like an orange. I discontinued the product.

Bump. Did you get rid of this orange peel texture? The same thing happened to me after Accutane treatment.

I'm in this dilemma too. ^Any results? However my pores are much larger than yours and are practically all over my face. I've also got blackheads/ sabecous filaments on my nose and chin. It's made me so depressed lately.
