I was once here long long ago dermarolling and now Im back. I have since had 2 subcision treatments (9/13, 4/14), 1 pearl fractional laser treatment (12/13) and 2 or so syringes of the permanent filler Bellafill (3/15). I will be posting pictures before each my treatments. Theres no reason to post them right after bc we all know swelling makes everything look better. I will be having another syringe of Bellafill injected into me today. I honestly expect to need 6-10 syringes of this stuff before I see a real difference. The pics attached to this post were taken on March 7, 2015.
April 27 before 3rd treatment of a full syringe. This stuff is not a homerun. you have to build on it. I plan on having as many injections done as possible but Im only given 1 per month. Please forgive me for the Adam Lanza look I have on my face lol
why belafill over say silicone
Thank you for sharing your journey with us so far. I am also considreing fillers for a scar. It really helps to see results from an actual person rather than before and afters that may have been enhanced on surgeon's websites. Also, thank you for not posting immediately when swelling is still present. I think you have a nice face and I understand that it takes a while to see results like you said, but it is looking good so far. I also wanted to login and comment here with a thank you. I have been having a very difficult few weeks, today in particular was very difficult and stressful. And after reading your lanza comment I laughed - I haven't laughed all day and really needed that. thank you - reminds me of when I take photos of my scar, the look on my face is always serious/somber but funny too
best of luck, looking forward to your improvements and cheering you on!
Honestly, I'm not sure where'd you put 6-10 syringes of filler. That is a lot of filler. I'd imagine you'd look a little overfilled with that much volume.
When you get filler its not as much as you think it is. I had 2 1/2 syringes and you can only tell a gradual difference if any right now. I was used in a demonstration at conference for plastics surgeons and afterwards a lady that had had her face absolutely filled with filler said at first I would think it had done nothing but then 6 months later I wold see a real difference. Also with the Bellafill your body absorbs the bovine collagen that the plastic miscrospheres are delivered with then its up to your body to create its own collagen around them. It takes 5 syringes to fill 1 teaspoon. Here is a video that shows you how much is in a syringe....skip to 1:30

Also I'll need quite a bit in my neck but Im only worried about my face right now. I'll be lucky if all I need is 10.
I ask and I was told silicone is not FDA approved to be injected into the skin
yes that true but it gives better results and besides even if something is fda approved still doesnt mean its safe just look at accutane.
My doctor is not going to do anything that is not FDA approved. He made me wait 6 months until Bellafill was approved for use in acne scars before he would use it on my acne scarring. However he will not use it for under the eyes or nasal folds bc of how it could migrate. If Silicone gets FDA approved then great I'll use it instead but until then this is what I have to work with.

I use to do a lot of dermarolling and it killed me to see people post pics a few days or a week after dermarolling and pretend they had results when really they were just swelled up and hiding their scars. I have seen so many people on here who claim 90% improvement but have no before pictures if any pictures at all or their pictures are TERRIBLE. The pictures I posted are much higher quality than what the forum allowed me to post. before my next filler session at the end of may I will upload the pics to another website and just post links. The pictures I posted are actually 2-3ft wide and tall. I can also go into photoshop and really destroy the lighting so it shows every single scar on my face but I decided just to post what it looks like in normal lighting. I plan on getting as many sessions of the filler as he will give me so I can actually show a best case scenario. Also my diet should give me the best chance of building collagen around the microspheres. What kind of scar do you have. Im glad I could make your day a little better lol.
Wow....very nice pictures. I wish everybody's pictures were this vivid, although even I personally wouldn't know how to do that. Even without photoshoping it is very clear. These last few pics depict you after how many syringes injected again? Yeah i would agree people initially starting treatments don't always know about the initial microswelling, so think their results early on are permanent. I have a surgical scar, am on second revision. I'm considering fillers and also laser. CO2 laser reviews on here are also difficult to pin down a good surgeon who actually delivers results. I would have filler and subcision but so far nobody's said they would do that...only laser. It is exhausting..
I agree that the real results don't present themselves until much later. The thing about permanent fillers is that what you see, may NOT be what you get (at least initially). Once the bovine collagen part of it is metabolized by your body, the remaining particles cause you body to form essentially scar tissue around them. At least half of the final volume is what is generated by your body. You don't want to risk doing too many injections so soon because your body could suddenly start producing too much collagen / scar tissue and you end up with lumps.

If I were to use the photoshop it would exaggerate the scarring on my face and bring it out more. A lot of it is hidden in the picture due to the lack of shadow but you can see a good bit of it. They gave me maybe half a syringe 2 weeks prior to the 3/7/15 pics just so I would be prepared for what they were going to do to me as a demonstartion at the conference. as of the 4/27/15 pictures I had 2 1/2 syringes. I had my 3rd full syringe the day after the 4/27 pics. if you look close at my pictures I had my head split open playing football last october. It was probably about 3 1/2 inches. The same doctor that has done my acne scar treatments did nylon stitches underneath the skin and then maybe 15 or so very tight stitches on the outside. For me its hard to see in pictures. You could make an account on realself.com and post a picture and see what all of the doctors on there think you should do. The doctor I go to is on there.

Yes I agree with that. See he told me basically what you see is what you get but I didnt agree with that bc everyone's body and nutritional lifestyle will be different. My injections are now spread out 1 month a part and I have so much scarring that he is just hitting me everywhere. My chin area will basically need to be remolded with the filler. My scarring looks a lot worse in the room where he does the injections but I guess the lighting really helps him see where the scarring is. Im not really sure that he has even hit the same scar twice yet. even after 3 1/2 syringes.
Yeah whoever takes care of you has done a good job. I can't even see the injury scar. Is it in the middle of the forehead? Is there any indentation in the scar that you can see in person? Thank you for the suggestion, i've definitely been using realself. I haven't posted a picture but I've asked a lot of questions and found doctors to consult with through there including my surgeon. It's hard to meet them in person though and discover sometimes they make you uncomfortable. I need to address some thing with my surgeon and I don't even feel comfortable asking him because he kind of brushed it off Last time I tried.

it starts at the edge of 1 of my eyebrows and goes up. it has zero indentation. It is slightly raised at the top. The scar is whiter and softer than the rest of the skin. What did you ask. I havent seen the scar but with mine the ER simply glued mine together but 16 hours later I was seeing my acne scar doctor and he cut it back open. he cut skin off each side to try to make it straight instead of jagged. Do you think your scar could be cut open...the scar itself cut out and then sewn back together to make a small, thin, less noticeable scar.
I think you look great....interesting that Bellafill isn't new, not at all, it is Artefill, and the reviews always scared me to death.
But somehow that company went belly up, and was purchased and the new company who renamed it to Bellafill, and got FDA approval for acne scars...so I'm still terrified about the migration issues.
Perhaps I misread it and they did improve the formula....I'll go back and try to figure that out- you are inspiring me to overcome my fear!
But you do look great, thanks for posting, your battle with acne is over for sure, were you on Accutane, is that how you beat it?
