This is the sad truth, especially if you have to go privately.
I have done a lot of research on what I think would be best to treat my scarring, but they always try to push this new treatment or this less invasive treatment that I know wont give me the results I want.
Forget about how the consultation alone will cost 100+ and then they will run blood tests etc on top of that. Fact is only the wealthy can afford to experiment with lots of different treatments.I made sure to get my GP to do full bloodwork beforehand but they told me they needed to do their own tests for hundreds of pounds?
I dont mind paying 3 odd grand for clear skin, but honestly I think it would cost near to 10 grand once the derm has exhausted all the treatments and finally does a deeper peel or laser.
Well unfortunately, I have been through the medical system bureaucracy with a loved one and trying to navigate it is a nightmare. If you are a person of average means, it's pretty hard. That said, I think of all the disciplines, the cosmetic surgery industry is probably the least trustworthy.
Yep so true, it also kinda seems like they don't know much about acne. Mines only glanced at my face for a few sec and assumed oh yeah definitely BP and antibiotics should clear you up and off I went. But after years of trying out prescriptions after prescription it was vitamin deficiency that was causing my acne..
This is actually the case with all businesses, but the only difference here is how desperate you are and therefore how easy you are to take advantage of. Oh yeah, that and the fact nothing in dermatology/cosmetics actually works because the problem is with your genetics not how many drugs and creams you're putting on your skin.
