I'm not exactly sure what kind of scars I have. I see rolling, boxcar, as well as ice pick. Just want to make sure. They seem to be moderate to shallow.
Also, what's the best treatment for these scars? I'm thinking it's laser.
I shot these in the harshest light and at the worst angle possible.
Thanks in advance!
This is in sunlight after dermarolling.
My fasce in sunlight after moisturizing.
My face in normal light. As you can see, it's very shallow in regular light. Sunlight does bring out ALL of your flaws!
Also the pictures that are sideways were taken with a different camera.
I would try to really moisturize that if they are still new, because I had some scar tissue that looked similar and it gets better with moisturization, time, and some gentle massage. I'd say they are rolling scars in areas, boxscars in others. But the redness and thickness to the skin tissue (if you feel any lumps) will go down some if you try natural oils or moisturizers. I've done polysporin a lot and realize I need to go more natural. Shea butter is okay for spot treating some scars and I'm going to try tamanu oil next. Also take collagen supplements. The collagen will reorganize for up to a year after scars form. If laser works for you, let me know. I don't have a lot of faith in it though.
All I see are boxcar scars and and a few ice picks.
Where are you located?
Okay, no rolling? Interesting.
I'm in L.A. I really would like to get subcision done more than laser but the good doctors in L.A. package the subcision with laser. Or so it seems. I'm not sure if subcision alone is not lucrative enough or if it's a tedious procedure.

Thanks, Tricia. Yeah, my skin does look very dry. The reason why it looks so red is because I dermarolled last night. The scars are pretty old. But, nonetheless, I will try to moisturize more. I don't like laser myself. I would prefer subcision and TCA peel but not many doctors in L.A. do subcision alone. They usually package it with laser. I'm looking into doing TCA peel myself.
Any recommendation for collagen supplement?
There are doctors in LA who will do subcision as a standalone procedure. I'm not sure who you've consulted with, but there are some that will certainly do it with some pushing. It might help to say that you want to start slowly with subcision first then possibly follow up by laser.
Have you actually consulted with dermatologists and they refused to do subcision by itself, or are you going off of the experiences of people on this forum? I'm only saying this because I've personally been to MANY dermatologists in LA and have not been forced to do a laser package if I wanted subcision. That doesn't sound accurate to me. Your experience is different than mine, and maybe that's a recent trend.
As for your scars, I would agree that individually they are not deep, but they are widespread. I agree with Tricia, that you skin does look very dry, and I'm sure it looks lumpier and irritated due to your recent dermarolling. Take some pictures of your skin when it is moisturized and not inflamed from rolling.
Don't know why my words showed up small before, LOL. The Collagen I take now is ResVitale Collagen Enhance pills. I really think it does help. It also has hyaluronic acid in it which helps to keep moisture in your skin and plump it up!

I've called around and it's been hard to get the doctors on the phone. I did have a consultation with Dr. Rahimi about a year ago and he was pushing me to do the laser and the subcision (he actually didn't think I needed subcision, just laser) or Yag. He quoted me $5K for two sessions which I thought was crazy since both SLee and Dragz from here were able to get two sessions for only $3K. I may go back to him and ask for subcision only but he said that with my kind of scars, laser would be the best because they were so shallow and widespread.
I called Dr. Mobasser's office and the office manager, Virginia, told me that the doctor does excision but didn't know if she did subcision and said she would call me back. She never did. I called her office after googling her name and subcision, which brought up her name. I will call the office again.
Blah, do you mind PMing me the name and number of the doctors you know in LA that you've talked to? I would really like that. I am trying to do something over this winter break since I have some time off from work.
The widespread aspect of my scars do bother me and I really want to get rid of them as much as I can. From what I've seen, subcision and TCA peel have worked well with two people I've seen pictures of. One was Mr. Matt, and the other was a woman. I am drawing a blank as to her screenname right now.
I've put up some new pics with my face moisturized. The third pic I took in a very harsh sunlight. The fourth pic is with a different camera under normal indoor lighting. It's very shallow under this lighting and this is why my friends think I'm crazy to get my face done. They think my face is okay. But I know that in sunlight it looks like crap. The last pic is from the quarter angle in sunlight.
No lighting is harsh as the sunlight. Nothing. So if you really want to get a true picture of what your skin looks like, you need to let sunlight hit the scars at that exact angle. Otherwise they look okay.
BTW, thanks EVERYONE for your replies. It shows that you guys care and I really appreciate that!
Thank you Tricia for your reply. I'll be trying that out soon and will let you know how that goes.
