Hi all!
First time posting here. Have been on this skin care journey for over a decade, 2 rounds of acutane and my skin is completely acne free, now ready to finally get rid of my awful pitted acne scars that I have all over my cheeks.
I went in for a consultation at a med spa to get an idea of what they would need to do and what the costs would be. I live in LA and found a well-reviewed place in Beverly Hills, so I knew it would be more expensive than if I lived somewhere else, and I want to get it done right and have the best possible results.
The doctor and laser technicians have recommended 2-3 vials of PRP for me (which they say usually cost $1200 per vial), a CO2 laser treatment, and some needling. They say that it will be a one day treatment and that the results will be permanent, and that they can get the majority of my scarring to vanish.
The price quote is $6k, which they say is a $2k discount because they really want to work with me and think it will be highly effective on my skin, blah blah (I work in marketing so I'm familiar with the way people spin this kind of thing).
I am looking into financing options, but I also want to get other opinions from people who have gone through similar treatments. Were you satisfied with the results? Is this a reasonable price for the value of these procedures?
Thank you all so much in advance for your input! For reference, a photo of my scarring on one side.
First of all, let me say (and please take this in the non-creepy way it was intended), but you're really pretty! Your scars definitely don't detract from that in my opinion, and they don't seem too severe.
That being said, the price you were quoted for PRP is really high! I'm not sure how it works in the states, but here I went through four vials of PRP (one vial every month) for scars, and it cost me like $400 I think per vial when I bought it as a package? Anyway, mine were injected into the skin, and I didn't see any improvement in my scars from this, except for a very slight reduction in my hypertrophic scar that's on my jawline. I'm not sure how it would work to help heal the skin after those more intense procedures, but some literature and anecdotal evidence I've read online says it seems to help, some day it doesn't. I'm sure it doesn't hurt to try (except maybe your wallet/purse lol).
Best of luck on your journey.
Sorry but, lmfao. Can you link me your doctor's website? And can you upload a picture of your skin under harsh lighting?
That said, $6000? LOL? I say a couple sessions of Vbeam and at home needling would resolve your scarring. And MAYBE one fraxel non ablative session but after you try vbeam and needling for a year or so
I keep pushing vbeam because of this: http://www.medicallaseronline.com/PDFs/VBeam/CLINICAL_BULLETIN_Treatment_of_Acne_Scars.pdf
my doctor, dr rullan in chula vista suggest it (2-3 sessions) (2014 Vbeam perfecta) and quoted me $100 for cheeks + temples and $15 for full face salisylic acid peel. I'm going to pay a bit extra and ask for forehead.
Sorry but that is outrageous. They clearly trying to do the hard sell on you with the "oh we'll give you the special price" thing. Never prepay for packages, and certainly not that much for PRP and needling. What's the name of this place? I'm in the LA area as well and this place sounds familiar.
Maybe these pics don't fully capture your scars, but they are quite minimal from what I see.
