Hello,
I have been suffering from acne since the age of 15 and it has really put my confidence down, like really down, sometimes I don't even want to go out because my scarring looks disgusting in my opinion. I'm 18 now, and my pimples are gone, I'm just left with disgusting scarring that I wish to get rid of. When I was 14, my skin was smooth and I didn't have a single pimple on my skin, and I was super confident, everything was good.
Now, I use a derma roller 1-2 times a week and I apply bio oil after the treatment. I get a lot of oil on my face during the day, what can I do to decrease that. I also use BP 5% a few times a week. I just wish it could go away, it hurts me and my feelings
Help is greatly appreciated.
I had a really bad reaction to Bio-Oil that I think made my scarring worse, so be very careful with it.
If it stings, your face gets red and raw, or you get a 'browning' effect, stop using it straight away. Just keep a really close eye on what it's doing to your skin.
When the scarring is actually physical indentations, the chances of Bio-Oil changing that are slim to nil.
I'd never use Bio-Oil for acne scarring again. It might just be my skin type, but it was awful.... After a few weeks of using it my face went bright red, then had this nasty brownish discolouration which make the scarring look ten times worse.
If I were you I'd stop with the Bio-Oil and get some anti-biotics from your Doctor to clear all your active acne. Then when that's 100%, you should notice a lot of the discolouration will go. You know all the purple-ish marks? Well without them it'll look A LOT better. then, when you're clearing up, get yourself an appointment with a dermatologist and discuss your options. Every type of scarring is different from the next, so it's hard to really suggest something or know what would help before consulting a professional.
It may take a good 6-10 weeks, but in that time I'd restrict what you put on your face... I'd say to definitely avoid exfoliants, moisturisers and anything with heavy chemicals. Be really careful with the dermaroller too: If you can't make it better, just make sure you don't make it worse.
And most importantly, don't let it get you too down in the mean time!
