Common wisdom has always been to never pop pimples, but further reading on the subject indicates that in some cases it's perfectly fine, and even beneficial in terms of preventing scarring. The caveat is that it needs to be a whitehead that has fully developed. After doing a little research I decided to try it on a nasty one an inch or two below my eye using a sterilized needle. It seems to have worked in that all of the pus is gone but now I have a small crater where the whitehead used to be. Did I do something wrong here or is this just what happens when you pop pimples? I'm worried that this is going to lead to a nasty scar, and in the meantime this doesn't really look any better than the whitehead that was on my face previously.
Any insight into this would be much appreciated!
Welcome to the club. You just earned the medal of honor amongst the notorious who once thought they were smarter than the idiot before them. Well, they were proven wrong and now they pay the heavy price by living with their scars for the rest of their lives.
Don't think you can ever outsmart them zits.
I've popped every single zit of mine and never had a crater, scar, or any of that. All I get is the post inflammatory hyperpigmentation that goes away after a few months. Awesome right?
I think its because my skin heals well, no matter how deep the pimple, it doesn't ever leave a crater. I've popped pimples, had them come back the next day, pop again, and it repeated for about a week with the exact same pimple. Man the hyperpigmentation was dark as fuck, but it didn't leave any crater.
Then again, its all genetics bro. If your skin heals well, it wont scar. I'm just lucky.
