Hydroquinone only slows the production of melanin in your skin. You should apply it to problem spots. I have used it on and off over the last couple years before and after scar treatment. I only saw benefits when I applied it to areas with hyperpigmentation. Be sure to stay out of the sun while using it and wear a good sunblock, even indoors. If it irritates your skin, mix it with a moisturizer and apply it before going to bed. You want to apply it on top of retin-a.

If you Google this topic, you will find some good articles on how to apply it by doctors. That's mainly how I learned.

thank you a lot for replying but Ive been researching this for years and it never really says I know everything about the retin a and what hydroquinone does but for someone who has acne spots and hyperpigmation and sunspots all of the skin with little patches of even skin like a dalmation or something how do you apply it if u have spot all over cheek do u just apply to whole cheek if u have spots mostly all over nose do u apply all over your nose to make sure u got everything instead of trying to pin point every single mark it seems like your skin would be a lot more even if you could just apply all over and it just faded the dark spots but trying to find every spot takes forever
