Hi. I'm a teen whoes been suffering ever since puberty. As the years have gone by, my confidence has begun to drop to a point that i can't speak in public, take a photo in public, or even talk to girls. I have become extremely self concious, and feel as though i am restricted because of my acne.
In terms of what i use on my skin, i do the following as part of my daily routine. I shower every morning, and only recently have begun washing my face with a dove soup bar. After showering all i do is moisturise with a cream called "doublebase gel." And thats it! I've tried a few masks before, but i only tried it for a couple of days and saw no differnece - hence i lost hope in them. I have little money, if not no money to be spending on products, so im stuck for what to buy.
I'll upload a picture of my cheek and around my eye (It's mainly just red eczema around my eye, not acne)
Any advice as to how to help clear my skin would be greatly appreciated!
Oh, and i do try to drink water regularly and i do excercise quite alot. However, my diet isn't so great.
Thanks alot.
You might want to see a Dermatologist(make sure you call them first that they offer a free consultation) to see what they can do to clear your acne up. It's always best to even get a 2nd or even a 3rd opinion from a Doctor to see more or less if they come to the same conclusion in how to clear your Acne & see who gives you a good deal on your money spent. Do a Google search on the Doctors full name to see if he is a reputable Doctor. Also Avoid Junk Food & Greasy Foods. If you don't have money have your Parents help you & tell them this is extremely important to you & killing your self esteem with the Ladies. Another thing I might add make sure you washed your bed sheets especially your pillows regularly so the bacteria doesn't continue to hit your face while you sleep so your pillows are freshly clean.
Being stressed out can also cause break outs. And make sure you get plenty of Sleep on a nightly basis. When you visit make sure you are 100% honest with your Dermatologist with what you eat & your daily living. I'm not so sure it's a good idea to wash your face with soap as it could cause your skin to be even dryer, but moisturizing it is a good thing. Also I've heard inbalance Hormones could come into play with some of us breaking out during most of our teenage years. Also I forgot to add one last thing when you dry your face off with a towel be careful not to over do it aggressively as you could cause scarring that way. Do it lightly when you dry off your face.
I see active acne, but luckily minimal true scarring. I know you may have little money, but I would exhaust every avenue to see a dermatologist. You are at the perfect stage to treat your acne and prevent scarring. Trust me, treating scars will cost infinitely more than paying to see a dermatologist.
Not sure what anyone can offer you in terms of advice if you can't buy products or see a doctor. Invest the money, you will thank yourself for it.
This is brilliant advice. You really do need to do everything you possibly can to see a Derm to clear up your acne and prevent scarring because the scars will be much more difficult to deal with - both physically and mentally.

If this board had been around when I was 15, I would have begged, borrowed, stolen (okay maybe not that) and found a way to get my acne under control. I would have exhausted every option.
Especially now that there is ObamaCare in place, you have options to find insurance. If you are in college, you most likely have access to your school's insurance plan. Don't stick your head in the sand thinking acne will go away. Prevent the scarring, because that will be 100x's more difficult to treat folks....
OH.... and don't pick your acne !!!!

Likewise. If I had known my face would have ended up with disfigured scarring from acne like it has, I would have kidnapped a Dermatologist if I had to lol (only joking kids, don't do this at home).
I've done so many medications since my acne got worse. If I could predict my adult time would be like this, I would do anything to treat acne since it appeared for first time. You won't know until you have many acne scars (I wish not) and you began to realize that preventing acne would give you many benefits than treating acne moreover if it has left you scarring. You'll have mental problem also.
Find a dermatologist that will give you accutane. Everything else is a band aid. Then treat any scarring if you have.
Accutane isn't for everybody. I had a derm who thought that it was a quick fix drug and lauded how it was a miracle cure. I wish for more than anything in the world that i never went near that drug. It has negatively affected my life hugely, and i have to live with the fallout for the rest of my life.
