I've researched quite a bit of topics here covering exfoliation. What I'm not understanding is what the process actually is. Is it rubbing something rough on your skin to remove dead cells? Or is it applying a BHA/AHA liquid to your face and then washing it off? Or both? Some people have also mentioned moisturizers that contain BHA/AHA and they just use that. I'm just extremely confused on the actual definition of the word - when everyone mentions exfoliation, what does it mean, really? I thought I knew, i.e. applying BHA/AHA to your skin, but after reading more I realize I actually really don't know. I really thought it was just the application of a toner. If someone can boil down what exfoliation actually is and how I do it, that would be great. I do have a 2% salicylic from PC; would that suffice? I was just going to follow the directions and simply use a cotton ball to apply it to my face. I wasn't really sure what to do after that, though - should I wash it off? Don't wash it off? Apply moisturizer? If someone could go through the step by step that would be very helpful. Thanks.
That's what I thought - that exfoliation was simply applying a toner. But then I read all this additional stuff about it talking about sand, baking soda, brushes etc. and it completely confused me on the actual meaning of exfoliation and what the best method is. I was planning on doing the baby brush method () but it confused me. I.e. is the baby brush simply used to brush your skin? I was under the impression that one should apply toner to the baby brush and then apply to the face, but is the brush simply used by itself to brush off dead skin cells before cleansing + moisturizing? This is where I get confused, because then where does the toner come in?
i think you are confused about toner
first you apply the cleanser and wash it in a circular motion around your face for atleast 30 sec then dry your face with a towell patting it only
after you put toner in a cotton ball just a little and clear your face with it after that apply any cream or moisturer
you dont really need any other tools
