Hello everyone,
I am a 20 year old girl from south-eastern Europe and I have severe acne scars.I have all types of scars (icepick, boxcar, rolling).
So far I've tried tca peels and mechanical dermabrasion, but I didn't get any improvement. From reading these boards I learned a little about acne scarring.
I would really want to try subcision and excision for my scars. However, I cannot find a single surgeon/derm who is willing to do these in my country.
Could anyone please recommend a doctor who is experienced in subcision and excision and is also from Europe?
thanks

Unfortunately I don't speak French so I had to rely on google translate
I've googled the doctor you recommended so I'll try to contact him....I hope he speaks English.
If anyone else is from Europe and has had excision/subcision done, your input would be greatly appreciated
Hi Freshman,
as far as subcision is concerned I can recommend you Prof Chu from first hand experience. I have had 2 subcisions done by him- the first one in 2011 and second in September this year. He has a lot of experience with the procedure. I had no negative effects like more scarring or permanent lumps. I remember developing a slightly raised lump under one subcised area, but it was more the result of still active acne than the procedure itself as back then i was not 100 % acne free and it got inflamed somehow. The lump resolved than by itself in a month and a half.
I have also heard that Dr. Tapan Patel performs subcision on a regular basis using a different technique than the Professor.
I had two areas subcised, approximately 1 cm in diameter. The skin did smooth out a little becoming more even. The problem is that my rolling scarring is not tethered down, but is the result of tissue loss. That is why the doctor didn't think it was necessary to do subcision at the next appointments and I only got dermaroller/-pen with TCA CROSS. So I cannot give you an objective opinion because I was not the perfect candidate for subcision. But from what I have read subcision gives really good improvement with tethered rolling scars. The word improvement being the key here, not scar eradication, unfortunately!
