Please Assist: Can You Use These Items After Needling/stamping?

Would love some assistance here. I've asked questions on here in the past and they usually get no replies so any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've been searching for things to use after stamping/needling to assist in collagen growth/scar remodeling and a couple things that have stood out to me are silicone scar sheets and the Garden of Wisdom chock full o vitamins Serum. The reason I want to use the sheets is because they seem to help minimize the appearance of scars, especially with the hypertrophic ones. I figured applying the sheets shortly after needling/stamping would help flatten them more. These hypertrophic scars also happen to be right next to indented scars.

I've seen people say that you shouldn't place silicone sheets on indented scars as it will make them appear worse. Though this never seemed to happen to me in the past. What worries me more is that I've also seen people say that they prevent collagen growth...the whole reason we needle/stamp. Now I don't know if this prevents good or bad collagen growth. Anyone have some input on this? Would applying silicone scar sheets shortly after needling/stamping my scars be a good idea? As well as continuing treatment weeks after.

Also, another item I really need some input on is Garden of Wisdoms vitamin serum. I've been searching so long for serum or cream or whatever to put on my scars after i needle them that wouldn't seriously irritate my skin, as I seem to have sensitive skin. And this stuff doesn't. But one thing that concerns me is if it has anti-inflammatory ingredients in it and if it really does then would that hurt the process more than help it? Here are the ingredients:

List of Ingredients

Distilled Water

- hydrating

- solvent

Acai Berry Oil *Organic*

- antioxidant rich

- rich in essential fatty acids

- high in phytosterol content [plant cell membrane components]

- promotes skin cell regeneration

Plantamulse

- made from esters of glycerin and fatty acids

- emulsifier

- emollient

Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate

- form of vitamin C

- helps to repair damaged skin

- increases collagen production

- lightens and brightens skin

- anti-inflammatory

- serves as a potent antioxidant

All-Trans Retinol [Vitamin A]

- rich source of vitamin A

- heals skin very effectively

- antioxidant

- helpful with treating acne

- revives photo-aged skin

Vitamin E [natural form]

- helps to treat a variety of skin disorders and photo-aged skin

- very healing

- moisturizing

- keeps skin smooth and flexible

- powerful antioxidant

- strengthens skin barrier

Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate

- antioxidant

- collagen production

- lightening

- brightening

- helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles

- promotes sun damage repair

Cellulose Gum

- natural thickener

Cosmocil CQ

- gentle, broad spectrum paraben free preservative

It says the Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, which is vitamin C, is anti-inflammatory. So I don't know if I should use it or not. It seems to have all the vitamins that you are supposed to get after needling but I'm worried it would instead have a negative affect on the process. And if this is something I shouldn't use....then what should I?

What needle length are you using? I was told not to use Vit C after needling because it can cause burns. It's good stuff, don't get me wrong, but not until the micro wounds close up. Hyaluronic acid is a great post roll treatment.

1.5mm is the stamp length I believe. I actually had stamped and applied this stuff before and it didn't sting. This stuff is supposed to be very gentle, the form of vitamin c in particular is supposed to be gentle and it seems to be. I've never heard of hyaluronic acid. Please inform me on what it does/where to buy/when and how to apply it. Thanks!

HA serum is gentle and nourishing to the skin. It helps your skin cells absorb and retain moisture. I use it after I home roll (with a .2mm) and my medical esthetician uses it after my pro rolls (with 1.5mm) too. I get mine from the esthetician. It's not cheap though :(

I have no idea about the silicon strip. But the GOW vitamin serum is NOT suitable because it contains vitamin e which PREVENTS scars from healing.

Instead, what I highly recommend is that you use beta glucan liquid from GOW in tandem with retin a low/ med strength. This will help your scarring.

Other options are a few drops of copper peptides (alone) & hyaluronic acid.

For collagen renewal, the best product is vitamin c serum (make your own using the vitamin c powder from owndoc.com). However, I prefer fresh lemon juice used topically (NB only suitable for short needle dermarolling sessions i.e. 0.25mm size).

Hope this info helps!

Cheers

PPS I just noticed you use a VERY long needle length!!! I think this is for professional use only.

So, whatever you use, choose only professional/ medical grade/ high grade post rolling serums. I think maybe this brand would be good...but please contact them & ask them if it's indeed suitable for post dermarolling application http://www.brennenmed.com/obg.html . Just DO NOT USE ANYTHING THAT ISN'T STERILE OR IS NOT MEDICALLY ADVISED FOR USE FOR POST SKIN DERMAROLLING. You can also send a question to owndoc.com or contact another medical practitioner/ reputable dermarolling company for advice.

Also, look into the suctioning/ cupping therapy for additional help if required. Cheers!

Oh ok then I guess I should stop using the GoW vitamin serum then. I actually bought the single needles from owndoc. I've asked her questions in the past but she ignored me so I gave up trying. The stamp is 1.5mm but I seem to heal well so I don't that's a problem. I was extremely aggresive when I stamped too.

I actually bought the suction thing from owndoc as well. I haven't tried it yet. I'm not exactly sure how to do it. And I'm a bit worried about the bruising and extended downtime that may be associated with it. Do you know anything about that?

Also, before I start trying other stuff to apply post-needle/stamp...how necessary do you think all that stuff really is? Like would I be able to improve my scars without applying that stuff after needling? I'm just worried that I'll put this stuff on, like vitamin c, and it will seriously irritate my sensitive skin.

I haven't tried the suctioning device. But people have reported great success with it. I think Mr Matt has used it. Please contact him or read his posts for guidelines.

Also, IMHO, I think it is vitally important to use a serum after rolling/ stamping. I would recommend one with beta glucan that is sterile/ medical grade. Plastic surgeons use it post dermabrasions and other procedures. This will help with collagen production, scar healing & wound repair.

Then, a day after skin rolling, you should consider using retin a, then, apply a coat of beta glucan liquid 15 minutes after - over the retin a. Use this combination regularly.

Btw, Beta glucan is not an irritant, it's soothing.

NB On the weeks you don't roll, you can use the vitamin c serum etc, Hyaluronic acid etc. It's good to alternate between products. And don't go overboard using just one scar healing modality or serum etc. A multi-pronged approach is best. And leave ample time between treatments for your skin heal naturally.

Ok so I guess I would apply this beta glucan stuff right after I stamp and then every night before I go to bed or something? And it wouldn't bother my skin or anything? And it would be ok to sleep with it on my face?

As for the retin a, that's basically tretinoin/tazorac right? I was prescribed that for stretch marks and that stuff made me red as hell. I'm just worried about stuff that will irritate my skin since I'll be heading back to college the beginning of september.

You could ask GOW if their beta glucan liquid is suitable. I personally use the New Directions brand. But it has preservatives in it & I don't know if it would be suitable for post rolling using a 1.5mm roller. But you could ask them that question. Otherwise, here's a medical brand beta glucan product http://www.brennenmed.com/obg.html . I'm sure there are other medical brands. Just research.

Another possibility is the brand recommended by the plastic surgeons/ dermatologists in this post http://media.wix.com...611bb09f0ce.pdf . But you''ll need to contact the company and ask if it's suitable post 1.5mm derma rolling. (It also contains other ingredients besides the beta glucan).

There's also DermeffaceFx7 http://dermeffacefx7.com/. I haven't tried it. But the ingredients look quite good. Maybe you can ask them if you can use it post rolling. (But it also contains other ingredients).

Lastly, you could see a dermatologist and ask them to recommend a brand to you.

Hope this helps smile.png

see a lot of people saying beta glucan is an anti-inflammatory. aren't you supposed to avoid anti-inflammatory stuff after stamping/needling/rolling?
