Hi..

I have recently managed to get my cystic acne under control through a course of Lymecycline (Tetracycline) which I am still taking, unfortunately my spots have been replaced with scars both indented and keloid and I know the only way to get rid of this is through cosmetic surgeries but I was hoping maybe you could help advise me on how to minimise the red/purple marks?

I have included a picture that was taken a few weeks ago... the acne has cleared but everything else is the same and you will notice that my skin is very oily so oil based products won't help... but I'm open to any suggestions!! I did hear snail slime was good for minimising skin scarring?!!!! Please take a look!

Hayley, I recommend Fraxel Re:pair for severe scarring, but it is hard to tell from your picture the extent of your scarring.

I can see a few rolling scars, but they look fairly mild and might not be an issue once the hyperpigmentation fades. You should probably wait and let your skin calm down and then reassess the situation. I assume the red bumps on your chin are active acne and not scarring?

You don't need any surgical intervention, this is very superficial, the overall quality of your skin is generally very good...try beta glucan liquid from New Directions. Also test skin massaging on one area of skin or one indented scar over two weeks for 1/2 hour nightly with beta glucan and see if it helps your indented scars. And for your keloid scar, test one scar with Thursday Plantations 100% tea tree oil & beta glucan (probably best not to massage these keloid scars...see if they go down after 2-3 months).

However, it seems you need a MAJOR detox: try a scoop of this daily https://www.synergynatural.com/product-information/super-greens.html in freshly made beetroot/ carrot/ apple juices etc daily. Also, daily exercise and change your pillow case every two nights (i.e. sleep on a new side each night) and ensure your bedroom/home/ bedding is not dusty but 100% clean, tidy and hygienic (use natural cleaning products). Eats lots of spinach leaf salad with flat parsley, thinly shredded raw kale, coriander, mint, avocado, cucumber, tomato (if you are not allergic to them), quinoa (preferably sprouted - you need to do this yourself), whole lentils made from fresh lentils/ not canned lentils, fresh lemon juice, flaxseed oil, sea salt and pepper (and mixed seeds and nuts if you are not allergic to them)...you can add a spoonful of quality hummus to this salad also or make your own...

Lastly, use either a gentle 100% natural vegan cleanser or sea-salt with spring water to wash your face once a day. Apply beta-glucan after (and if you have a breakout, use Thursday Plantations tea tree oil on the breakout).

Whatever you do, be patient and let your healing naturally happen from within so it reflects on the outside....and don't use any harsh topicals of any sort...your skin will get better...give it time and proper gentle nourishing care, cheers smile.png

PS Stay away from dairy!!! And stay away from processed junk foods, fried foods, chips, microwaves, sodas, coffees, teas etc. instead drink spring water (no tap water or flouridated toothpaste either...get herbal/ mineral toothpaste) and fresh veg fruit juices and eat mostly raw, wholefood, natural organic, non-GMO vegan foods. Meats/ fish/ eggs can cause acne too because they are generally filled with toxic heavy metals, pesticides, antiobiotics, disease, gases, dyes, GMO etc so avoid as far as possible...but if don't choose to be vegan, then at least choose organic, free range, cruelty free, ethical produce and eat very rarely...

The more crap you put on your acne and red marks, the slower they heal. All those harsh ingredients such as BP slow the stage for recovery. Same goes for the harsher face washes like the Cetaphil foaming. Differin can help speed the healing because it increases cell turn-over ultimately leading to reddness fading. You also should not be on Tetracycline for moer than 3 months since you need to get your acne in check before going off it. Natural source of vitaminc C , protein, healthy fats in your diet will speed the healing process. Avoid foods that are highly glycemic to prevent future breakouts.

Austra - yeah this was taken a few weeks ago but the acne is now under control.! I know it's not as bad as most scarring but it's destroyed my confidence.! Just wish it would hurry and settle.!

Aquasea - thanks for the advice.! I shall take a lot of that on board unfortunately vegan isn't for me but will most certainly source organic foods and start cutting out all processed foods.!

Collegeboy84 - I do hear a lot of differin but I'm not sure it's available in the uk.? Is it an oral product or topical.?
