I've never heard of this either (although I'm not exactly an expert). I'd be inclined to try multiple subcisions and fillers before considering excision for rolling scars, but if he's getting good results with it for your type of scarring and seems reliable, why not try it for one scar. Haven't you only had 1-2 subcisions though? I think it might be worth trying a couple more rounds of them at some point, since it can sometimes take several subcision treatments before you get improvement and the risks are quite low.

I'm just about to book an appointment for a consultation re: excisions as well. If I can fill it in, I could ask about excisions for rolling scars, although I doubt this plastic surgeon would know much about it. I also have a couple of rolling scars I'd like to get treated, but I'm going to try to get them subcised first (although so far I haven't heard of anyone in my country ever performing or having subcision done, so not very likely to happen).

Who is the doctor doing this treatment, by the way? I'm not based in the UK but I have family there, and am trying to keep up with the treatments you've got as well.

I've had 5 or 6 rounds of subcision, i can't remember exactly how many, i've lost count now. Subcision didn't give me any visible results, it did however untether the scars meaning that when i stretch the skin out they disappear. The doctors i've seen won't do any more subcisions as there is nothing to subcise because the scars aren't tethered anymore.

I've looked into fillers but i can't find anyone that will do fillers for scarring.

I had Total FX laser 8 weeks ago for my scars but that hasn't given me any results either, i'm getting tired of having so many treatments and no results.

No one will give you fillers? That's ridiculous it's your money... Plenty of docs in the us could help you by as usual it takes a few treatments especially if you were to go with silicone.

Bah, I'm so sorry to hear you haven't had improvement after so many subcisions! I was under the impression that it's really effective for rolling scars, but apparently not always so. You may still get some more improvement from the Total FX though if you've only just had it a month ago. If all those treatments are ineffective, I would consider fillers if I were you (short-term or even silicone microdroplet, although that would be expensive and hard to find a good doctor). I'd imagine plastic surgeons who use fillers for wrinkles (i.e. quite a few of them) could just as well do it for scarring. At least it would be good that the plastic surgeon would be scar-savvy enough to do subcisions before the filler to prevent the doughnut effect, but since you've already had subcisions and your scars are untethered it can't matter too much. And you could try punch excision on one scar too, and see how it goes.
