I dont know the answer to your question, but I agree--we as a species are pretty lame as weve been in the sun for thousands of years but we havent evolved yet so that we dont burn? Our ancestors were farming/planting/hunting in the sun, but we cant handle an afternoon at Hershey park without getting burned, whats the deal with that. It just seems so stooopid. I havent yet found a sunscreen that I like or that I feel safe using on my face. I usually wear a hat or even a a sun umbrella like the Japanese ladies have. Unfortunately if youre a guy youd look pretty silly carrying around a parasol.
Sorry I couldnt help
1stly,next time u write..try adding some punctuation marks.make it readable!
2ndly,if u really feel all of us are ,as u call it 'BS', then we r sorry we couldnt please u.
in my opinion (which is important to me and am sure some more ppl here) u should leave for good!
acne.org will not shut down.
3rdly,since u say u're never gonna come back here.i am assuming there is no point further stretching whether or not people u see on the road wears sunscreen and so,whether or not u should be equally obliged.
btw, people on the road are mostly nice to other people too.
ever tried that out?!
*curious*
good luck,

and sorry bout that buddy i was just typing really frustrated that much many people out there are completely clear and we are out here stressin our asses off people just dont understand what we go through and the world judges us by this seriously it ruins some peopls life and relationships.. didnt mean to offend anybody here this place is great it can just be a little frustrating dealing with all this and other daily problems in our lifes. dan is great and everybody else here is too apreciate everybodys help here !! ))
u neednot reapple suncreen of a good spf every two hour.
if u r using spf 50+ or higher which has both chemical and physical barriers,u should ideally apply it at around 8-9am and then again around 12-1pm or so.
it is important that u use it because its not only good for acne prone skin but also a must for those using acne medication(whether topical or orally) for that makes them sun sensitive.
it is also a must for those with PIH or any hyperpigmentation.although tanning or darkening, they say hide the marks but the fact is its actually darkening ur marks/spots even more.
plus the uv rays are bad for u health.am sure u're aware they are carcinogenic.
sunscreens are important for us because our ancestors dint use horrible things a lot so there wasnt a huge ozone hole.
plus less pollution,a calming weather, good water(which did our skin good) and over all everything (from what we eat to what we apply) was 'harmless'.
also,everyone is differnt.
there are people(i can say 'most' here because our population is HUGE) in india who nevr wears sunscreen.its a tropical country the weather is always warm or hot & humid.
all that happens is they get a lil' or more tanned but burn is not a common thing.(i repeat for most)
there are obviously many who get burnt with lil' incidence of sunlight or heat.thats them.
we r all different.
i can understand the frustration.we have all been through it or are still going through it but u must understand that letting acne take over u is like losing before u've even tried.
is ur acne severe?
have u gone through the forums here(diet, lifestyle, acne discussions,scars/spots) and figured out what suits u the best?
have u scrutinised ur diet and lifestyle and taken medicine (if needed) to fight acne?
luck
Sunscreen is a must. The sun damages collagen. Simple. I have used sunscreen every day for the past five years. It's not rocket science.
If you're not wearing makeup then what makes it so hard to apply it every morning and then top it up in the middle of the day? That's all I do. Every two hours? Unnecessary unless you're in the sun constantly.
If you wear it under make up then no you can't exactly keep reapplying it but choose a makeup that will act as a physical barrier (like mineral foundation with SPF) and you're good.
Also, wear a hat when outside.
If you're serious about improving your skin you shouldn't even be asking whether sunscreen is needed.
