from reading the posts on laser treatment, pain management pre-med for laser treatment has been extremely poor, depending the laser type the pain has been unbearable and the worst ever experienced, for those who have had laser treatment, what is effective? are there mds that offer iv opioids for pain control?
When I had my Mixto treatments, I was given something equivalent to a percocet and face numbing cream prior to treatment. My pain was very minimal during both sessions and I had intense treatments. I do have a pretty high pain tolerance but I would think that's all the majority of people would need to deal with the pain.

for mixto from an md consult, i was told the same pain regimen, but adding lidocaine injections blocks on approx 6 regions on the face. considering between mixto and fraxel repair; i'am glad to hear that your procedure went well with pain being tolerable, really wanting to have this procedure done without having to be traumatized from it
That's actually a good question and something that I have wondered myself. With all of the pain treatment options out there, why don't doctors take advantage of them so people don't have to suffer doing laser procedures.
more time consuming procedures, i think. more potent meds contributing to more complications and side effects, decreased respirations, oversedation, death? more potent meds would require heart monitoring, oxygen saturation monitoring, etc. more risk, more staffing? people not speaking up during procedure for more pain control? it would also require added assessment on the md's part, chronic pain patients vs opioid naive, which would then require a pain management specialist (not all mds are) or anesthisiology to become involve perhaps? not sure about it all
for fraxel repair, from a different md, demerol intramuscular with vistaril and lidocaine injection, on six regions of the face, and topical numbing cream. when asking about iv pain management i was told that it was unecessary
