I went to a dermatologist today 2/19/13 and I basically went to to see him for my scars, large pores on both sides of my nose and redness.

Basically he told me that if I had seen him earlier during 2007 when i first went to see a dermatologist that I would have been a perfect accutane patient. However I wasn't put on the pill instead i was put on a simple benzoyl peroxide 5% gel and basically used that for my a long time. Now last year I was prescribed 80MG Solodyn by a different dermatologist that works at the same place and I just started using that last month. It really helped reduce the number of pimples and helped with some of the redness.

However I went to see another dermatologist about my acne scars and redness.

Link to my pores and scars.

I was told that laser treatment or even a cream like Retin-A would not be suggested because my skin color is dark. I asked if there was any treatment that would have with my scars and was told straight up "NO". So what do you guys think by looking at the picture of my skin, is there any actual treatment that would work?

I'm no dermatologist or expert but it sounds absurd that he would not even recommend Retin-A for you. Your skin isn't that dark in the first place from the pics and I'm sure you have a lot of options. Harsh treatments like lasers will give you increased RISK of side effects but its never a 100% guarantee that you'll suffer them.

But who knows, maybe your derm is experienced enough to decide otherwise. If I were you I'll get a 2nd or even a 3rd opinion.

Find a new dr.u

If your skin tone is darker, you can still be treated with erbium based lasers.

Go to someone else who is more compassionate and will give you options.

I just scheduled a appointment with a plastic surgeon next wednesday. They have the erbium lasers that every seems to be pointing to and since it's a free consolation then i'm gonna go. Hopefully this guy knows how I feel and gives me a lower price then i'm seeing. :)
