Laser For Shallow Scars

Hi guys, I would like someone from this forum to please help me with my question. Recently I had a major cystic acne breakout on my cheeks but the derm I saw gave me Accutane and it's been 3 months and my breakouts have almost completely stopped but I've been left with some shallow ice pick and box car scars on my cheeks which the derm says are not too deep. So I asked him about laser and what improvement I can expect so he told me for my scars anywhere from 60-70%, which seems really good to me but for some reason too good to be true. So please can someone please tell me if 60-70% improvement is possible with lasers or it is a too high an expectation? Can lasers work this well for some people?

Thanks you,

Vishal

U need to wait for more than a year after accutane to treat ur scars.laser needs to be combined with subcision and other treatments.

Thank you for your reply. Yes I know I need to wait for a year but I am really depressed by these scars and wanted some assurance if laser will improve them one I decide to do it and is 60-70% improvement reasonable expectation?

yeah it is reasonable. Depends upon the skill of the surgeon, make sure to chk his before and after photos. If you don't break out now use a collagen booster serum with a vitamin C, E and B5 rich moisturizer might help. Babyface skin care, Skinceuticals etc. makes some good products. Also drink vegetable juice.

Will most doctors require or insist on getting subcision/other treatments first before going under the laser? I too have only a few scars which are not so deep, and if I have to get subcision anyway, I might as well get it done now while I'm still saving up for resurfacing.

No laser will give you 60-70% improvement after one treatment. Also, considering you don't know what type of laser they want to do on you, you should probably do a bit more research on the differences between each type.
