Is Applying A Moisturizer A Must After Applying Aha Cream?

When you apply an AHA cream such as alpha hydrox souffle at night, is it absolutely necessary to apply a moisturizer for it to work? I have applied AHA but never apply moisturizer after it at night. Could that be the reason my red marks aren't clearing?

Okay i just read someone mentoined that doing this would dillute it and thus the AHA cream would be not effective. So does that mean one shouldn't apply a moisturizer then after AHA? I'm really confused what the right way is...
