Where I live, Winter is fast approaching, and today was rather cold. What I noticed when I got back inside was that my scars had improved around 80 percent (especially my rolling scars). I had that feeling of contracted skin you get when you're outside in the cold. If only there was some way to make skin always contract like that... makes me wonder if face lifts / face tightening would help aleviate acne scars. Or even if perhaps there is some matte clear kind of skin cream that bonds to your skin and to itself, so that it would hold that shape throughout the day if you apply it immediately after being outside in the cold.
I've noticed the same! When I've walked home from school in the cold and then go to wash my face, my skin has looked really nice and even and the scars less noticeable. I'm not sure why, I thought it might have been partly because the decreased blood flow would've made any possible hints of hyperpigmentation or redness in the scars fade away. But there's probably some other method as well. It would be nice if you could have that effect for longer.
Hmm...never really noticed the hot/cold thing. Only correlations I've noticed are the more active I am (exercising, etc.) the worse my scars look. I guess that can have something to do with being hot.
Also, my scars look best in the morning and worst right before I go to bed.
When I say cold, I'm talking around zero degrees Celsius and a fairly long time spent outdoors (half an hour or longer). I'm not sure if you would notice any effects otherwise. My scars look a bit better in the morning too, though I didn't notice it until I read here about scars supposedly looking better in the morning.
Yup, my scars look best in the morning too. It's because your face is puffy due to a mass of blood in your face, and this pushes out the indented scars. I guess it's a similar thing with contracting. Makes me think that laser might not be a bad idea once I get my active acne taken care of, that supposedly tightens up the entire face.

If you're considering laser, make sure to do a fractionally ABLATIVE laser, not non-ablative. Fraxel Re:pair, Total/Deep FX, and Mixto are all fractionally ablative lasers and can improve scars. Non-ablative lasers are much, much slower and have a smaller success rate.
