Hi
In the 5rd of July 2012 my derm prescribed me Accutane. By 2 weeks I was taking 20mg, in the next 2 weeks 30 mg and after 4 weeks I'm taking 40mg. Acne disappear in 1,5 month time, but I have red marks (scars?) on my cheeks. Is it PIH or scars?
Today is the 3nd of November and that marks still there. I don't see any progress.
The photos shows 4th month of my treatment. In the 15 of August acne dissapear completely and after that day I have THIS on my cheeks:
What is it? PIH or scars?...
Does it dissapear?
Thank you in advance
PS.
Should I moisturize my skin? Does it helps in fading of that marks? I'm still taking 40mg of Accutane.
I am pretty sure that those are post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation spots and will fade with time. Unfortunately, I have heard that Accutane can slow the fading process so they may stick around until after you're done with your round of meds. You should DEFINITELY be moisturizing your skin twice a day; I suggest you ask your dermatologist for a facial moisturizer recommendation. Also make sure you're protecting your skin from the sun because sun exposure can make hyper-pigmentation even darker. If you weren't taking Accutane, I would advise you to exfoliate to help speed up the process, but your skin is so fragile right now that I think you're better off without. On another note, congrats on your success with Accutane... I think your skin looks great!
Thanks mate for your answer!
I had steroid acne because my urologist was healing me by dexamethasone five months ago. Then my derm prescribed me oral isotretinoin. The acne disappeared in 1,5 month and it left Postinflammatory-Hyperpigmentation - as you can see on the picture. I'm still taking Accutane.
Some dermatologists forbid moisturizing because they think that skin should peel off (peel off - use I correctly word? ). So I will moisturize my skin.
Thanks!
